The sockets email I got was from Yuriy; I'm on his list because I bought
some tubes from him recently.
It amazes me how many vintage devices he's acquired for resale.

How do I load audio onto these and program the macros? i.e. what hardware do I
need? It seems like they are programmed using SPI via the nuvoton USB dongle,

I just received a spam email from "Норд Фуд Сервис" offering to sell octal
tube sockets (which don't even fit nixies!), sent to an email address I
only use here. I would encourage all members to not do business with people
who send spam.

The story I remember on these (from quite some time ago) was that they were
based on memory chips that had faults; The faults (in 8 bit or whatever audio)
don't make a big difference (they could filter the POP's out I'd think) so
they're CHEAP and this is a pretty good solution. They make these

I didn't think these chips were still made ! I used one back in the early
90's, so details are a bit fuzzy. Digikey carries them, and they they don't
