Hi,
I wish to implement proxy supporting, using Community Field(SNMPv2).
At first, I tried to find Community Field parsing function in net-snmp-5.1.1.
As result, I found that function is located in snmp_auth.c(snmp_comstr_parse()).
Currently, I tried to mapping Community Name with Remote Agent Co

A few too many patches went in to CVS after 5.1.2.rc1 was released, so
I'm doing one more in the release candidate series before publishing
the real 5.1.2 either tomorrow or early next week.
If there are major show stoppers, nows the time to let us know ;-)

Some of the complex Sun hardware like the e10k and
Sunfire use the default sun snmpd daemon called snmpdx
to keep track of board level issues on 'domains' ,
etc, so swapping out snmpdx with netsnmp snmpd is not
a good option. Making netsnmp run as a subagent of

I can agree with your point - that these can be expensive to query.
However...
1) I only query the prtdiag/prtconf MIBs once a day for automated
inventory (and VERY occassionally manually), so it's really not THAT
expensive. I'm looking at the idprom, etc.
2) With the "ps" command, the hrSWRunTab
Prtdiag can be pretty expensive in terms of resources and returns a lot of
irrelevant stuff. Unfortunately, I haven't found the API's to deliver it
any other way, but I'm still looking. I found another clue today.
Prtconf delivers stuff available in HOST-RESOURCES-MIB and UCD-SNMP-MIB.

Actually, I've tried adding the -t option with 30, 60 and even 90. Still
nothing. I've checked a few more of the "exec" lines that I have in my
snmpd.conf and it looks like the output from them is being truncated at
around 25 or 30 lines. They originally all looked like this:
exec .1.3.6.1.4.1.202

snmptranslate didn't have a problem with it though.

smilint shows a lot of errors in it, FYI:

Dear all:
I am a real beginner with SNMP and with Net-SNMP. I need some help in
order to start working. I am not sure how shoula i start. How to
configure the agent and the manager?? Shall i start by writing in the
snmpd.conf file?
Please give me a point to start, and then i will manage myself.

I'm using the SMCnsnmp package created by sunfreeware.com on Solaris 9. It's
version 5.1.1. I'm only accessing the agent via SNMPv3. My snmpd.conf snippet
looks like this:
exec .1.3.6.1.4.1.2021.51 prtconf /usr/sbin/prtconf -pv
When I query this mib on the agent, becomes unresponsive (ie: snmpwa
Does anyone have the ping MIB (RFC 2925) ported/working under net-snmp?
We have an IBM cluster in which we need to check connectivity to every
node, from every node. It looks like the ping MIB would be the best way
to do that from a central station.

I am using these configure options with QNX 6.2.1 on a PC, net-snmp 5.1:
./configure --enable-mini-agent --with-defaults --disable-applications
--disable-manuals --disable-scripts --disable-mibs --disable-debugging
--disable-mib-loading --enable-shared --disable-static

It uses the approach outlined in RFC 3414, section 4 "Discovery".
It actually sends the same request two or three times, in the
sure and certain expectation that the first one(s) will fail.
But the error repor
Hi,
How and where does snmpget application discover the engine ID of agent's

Thanks

I can well believe that this is happening.

I've read that ucd-snmp-4.2.6 can be used in QNX. then
I downloaded it and try to install it in my QNX 6. I
followed the instruction in INSTALL file. First, I
executed "./configure", it ran well. But when I
executed "make", it failed.

Install the missing package:

I have tried my application's code as a separate thread from within the
ucd-snmp agent's code. It works fine. And within my application's code I
am further creating multiple threads using mutex etc. This way
everything works.
