NetCAT is done in the context of full releases, i.e., major release, and
not feature releases which we've been focused on recently so far.

The above is the release schedule.

Dear Apache NetBeans community,
The third (and hopefully final) beta build for Apache NetBeans 12.3 is
available.
Changes between beta2 and beta3 can be seen at:

You shouldn't be using 11.3 anymore and 12.3 doesn't exist.

Please, everyone, we need you to do this. Don’t think that someone else
will do it — do it yourself, we need your feedback, it’s not much work, and
we want to release 12.0, which means we need your feedback and approval on

If you run NetBeans 12.0 beta 2 itself on JDK 8, that native packaging

Hi NetCAT team!
An issue has been discovered in the Maven area in beta 1. Anyone doing work
with Maven, when creating new projects, will encounter this.

We're looking at setting up parts of NetCAT, maybe not all of it, e.g.,
maybe Java-specific only for the moment, this week as soon as possible.
Though what we really need is for people to verify that the test specs are
good and ready for 12.0 usage

Excellent!
Anyone reading this — please try out one or more of the installers below
and provide feedback (success, failure, problems) here in this thread.

Yes, it’s a known problem, Gaurav is working on it for beta-3.

Hi Josh.
Great work, I've found two small issues:

That is great! The Java EE 8/Maven combination looks solid to me, would be
awesome if the Java EE 8/Gradle combination would also work..

Excellent, great work!
Especially the Java EE 8 integration (Maven only, Gradle would be excellent
too), and Payara integration would be great for us all to take a look at
here.

Hi all,
The ASF Board of Directors have just voted to establish the Apache NetBeans
project as a top level project. Congrats to us all, for the hard work and
dedication (and it only took 2 1/2 years)!
This is a public (binding) decision, so by means of this e-mail we are
officially sharing the
You are using Gradle. There is no reason not to believe that the problems
you encounter are with Gradle.
Also, Kirk has provided clear guidance about how to help identify the cause
of the problem here.
And here is the project I use in NetBeans, considerably more than 900
files, etc:
Well, possibly it is related to Gradle.
Can you see if you can reproduce these problems without using Gradle-based
Java projects.

WildFly plugin source code is here:

Yup. Though the WildFly source code is now in Apache NetBeans GitHub and
you should connect with Emmanuel Hugonnet from Red Hat who is the author of
that code to work with him on releasing that source code. Also maybe you
can get his WildFly plugin from plugins.netbeans.org, not sure.

Hi all!
We're super focused on getting the release out the door and tightening
various processes, getting things done as efficiently as possible -- and
hence we really would like to move on to the IPMC vote (i.e., out of the
PPMC, which is the Apache NetBeans project management committee and up
pecs.

And unless there are objections I'd like to start the PPMC vote thread for
Apache NetBeans 11 as soon as vc4 is available -- which means the Community
Acceptance Survey will run in parallel with the vote thread on the dev
alias.
