If there is gunk in the tank then cleaning the carbs won't last long.
Clean the tank out too or at least add a $5 inline fuel filter.

Try eBat - I found a couple left side covers for your year. Contact
the sellers, they often have more parts and just list some. That's
how I found a right cover for my bike. My search was cb550 side
cover and there were 3 or 4 red left covers on the list.

Maybe in Boise it's the end of the season, but around here... man, it's
finally getting to the point where it's cool enough for traffic lights and
stop signs to not be torture from the heat. :D

So Kurt after reading you're post I see that you validate all of my
statement except that nitromethane is typically mixed in for use with
the ethanol to act as an oxydizer. At the race track the do use it.
While you don't need it added it to make the engine run, it does
greatly increase the power

I can see that thing being fun on woods trails on in the fall

I agree, I can't wait until winter when I can ride more comfortably.
Heat index of 110 with 100% humidity is pretty rough. I winter I can
put on more clothes, in summer I still gotta wear my helmet, pants,
and jacket.

Alcohol puts out less power than gasoline, but a little water - up to 30% is
what I read years back - makes up most or all of the difference. It will still
burn with the water in it, and the heat makes the water turn to steam and that
is how it shores up the lack of output with gas.

I've seen some that the outer ring cycle sequentially in running light mode,
and when you brake they strobe 3 or 4 times before going on solid. Those
were around $30 a bulb though. I understand wanting to draw more attention
to yourself, but that's a lot to pay for a single bulb.
