So Kurt after reading you're post I see that you validate all of my statement except that nitromethane is typically mixed in for use with the ethanol to act as an oxydizer. At the race track the do use it. While you don't need it added it to make the engine run, it does greatly increase the power output and running qualities of the engine. I wasn't stating that alcohol was a bad fuel, just drastically different from gas. The problem I see and please correct me if I'm wrong is that ethenol absorbs water which not only reduces its effectiveness, but when mixed with gas causes gumming much sooner that gas alone.
