I've seen one in absolute showroom condition on the Houston CL for over 3
mos. Dude was asking $3900 at first, came down to $3500 but it still never
sold. $2000 is about the sweet spot for these bikes. $2500-$2800 for a
really nice one. Chalk up an extra few hundred for being on the islands

Hello All,
I was just given a price of $300 to put a set of new tires on
my NH. Please please tell me that this is one guy at a private bike
shop that doesn't get a good deal on tires!
Or - am I way off?

That sounds about right, depending on the brand of tires. Does this include
remounting the wheels on your bike or do you already have them off?

Contis on mine, tires were on sale if you bought a set.
Labor was also discounted, and discounted again since I did the dismounting
and just gave them the wheels and old tires.

Well I'll be...
Last time I put rubber on this thing was probably 8 years
ago... about 10,000 miles ago - and I remember getting a rear tire for
$40 Some cheap Korean made tire.
Maybe I just have to re-orient my financial perception!
I'll check another couple places - btw
The tire I ended up going with was much cheaper than the Contis. I
picked up a Kenda Challenger, as it has a fairly good lifetime rating
for a rear tire, decent handling and is meant for touring. Since I

super-sticky tire, and
Joey I've got a set of Bridgestone Spitfires on my 450. I bought the

back of the truck over to a small local bike mechanic. I can't

So, it may not seem so, but if your guy's price includes labor for
removing the wheels, mounting/balancing tires and reinstalling the
wheels, it's a deal.

That's been my take on the Kenda too. I have a Metzler front tire, it
was pretty much brand new when I bought the bike, so I figured why
waste money replacing a perfectly good tire?
