When you say "the Metzler front tire was pretty much brand new" are you going just by the amount of tread wear? The actual age of the tire is just as important. It can be read off the sidewall of the tires. Sometimes a dealer will sell tires that look "brand new" for a cheap sale price, however they may be 3-4 yrs. old in shelf life. A dangerous situation indeed. Better safe than sore!!
