Nah, I checked the date on it two, five months old, the compound was still
nice and responsive, good feel to it.

I've bought "new" tires for the car before too, only to have tread
separation four months later. I check, now.

 Sometimes a dealer will sell tires that look "brand new" for a cheap
sale price, however they may be 3-4 yrs. old in shelf life. A
dangerous situation indeed. Better safe than sore!!
