Both your bikes are really nice. You’ve put a lot of time into them. I
don’t mind the inline 4 carbs. Been doing them for about 12 years.

Actually I prefer removing the carbs from a 700S. Easier than the EN500. I
have an 86 700S. I have to clean the carbs on that next, again.

No pics yet. I drained the oil twice, put a little Barleak in the radiator,
ran bike for half an hour, drained oil again and it’s been clear so far
after another half hour run

Water in crankcase is never good. Hope bearings and such aren't too bad. At
least you only have to deal with 2 carbs and not 4. Got any pics?

Yep, for accessories I think. Now back to the carbs, they leak. They need o
rings, gaskets. I was hoping to not have to remove them again but I will.
This bike had been left out in the weather for years. Even had water in the
crankcase

Sweet! I found some connections under my gl650 seat not plugged into
anything. Found out they are for honda line heated vest. Maybe for an
accessory. Glad to hear you got it sorted out and you are welcome

Found it. One connection was incorrect under the seat. There are the rear
turn signal connections, the brake lights, the tail lights and two floating
open connections. I don’t know what they are for but the brake light
connection was plugged into one of them. Thanks Darin.

Check ground and 12v dc in socket with brake applied. If you have 12 volts
where light plugs in to harness, that don't leave much

May sound stupid but are you sure you have correct bulbs ? If you have

Should be able to use test light or meter at socket to see if voltage is
reaching bulb when brake is applied

Yes

The brake light is activated with a little button switch placed at the
handle brake. The button is pressed when you apply the brake with the
lever. Sometimes those go bad, you might need to replace it. Is a little
black square thing, the same in almost any honda.

Actually on some models the button is pushed when you are not using the
brake and is released when you do use the brake. Take it off squirt some
electrical cleaner in it and work the button. Test with a multimeter. If it
isn't an open in one position and low resistance in the other, replace it.
The switch at the brake lever needs cleaning probably or is not releasing when
the lever is pulled in
