[No Thirst Software] back to MW after long absence / how to catch up in allocating

2009-06-04 Thread johna
I haven't been keeping up in my MoneWell document (no allocations for the last 2 or 3 months). I've caught up with inputing all my transactions. I'm assuming I would not run multiple allocations for each month but just pickup from now, that is, make my current buckets positive, then let MW

I'm wondering if it would be better just to change my cash flow start date to June 1. How would that affect my income bucket? On Jun 4, 1:11 am, johna john.amagli...@gmail.com wrote: I haven't been keeping up in my MoneWell document (no allocations for the last 2 or 3 months). I've caught up

[No Thirst Software] Previous fields change when editing the next transaction

I imported a number of transactions (OFX). After editing several transaction Payee fields, I noticed that some fields (particularly Bucket and Payee fields) in previous transactions began to change spontaneously, whenever I would edit a Payee field. There doesn't seem to be a very consistent

I recorded a deposit into the salary bucket. Then hit Allocate income and Save Allocation. The salary bucket total went blank, as did all the bucket totals. I couldn't get the bucket totals to make any sense by selecting All transactions, any account, or anything in the graphs. I quit Moneywell

Recently read a posting where you said you'd never implement hierarchical buckets. I would like to argue that what you lose doesn't compare to what you gain. I know you said you may implement tags, but tags come in after the fact. In other words, you can't tag a transaction before it happens. I
