Hans, the problem is that the bottom set [n=3,balance=yes]
does not balance at all, it just fills the avaiable space
top-to-bottom until the text runs out.

When using columnsets is it possible to have footnotes placed at the

(Using only "columns" instead of "columnsets" I get single-section
pages with alternating languages.)

It works! Thanks Wolfgang.

Hello Wizards,
the next example illustrates the problem with wrong order of
content-list items if using balanced columnsets:
-
\setuplayout[grid=yes,topspace=1cm,bottomspace=1cm,height=middle]
\showgrid
\definecolumnset[A][n=2

But as I also have to use section titles that span the columns
(without causing pagebreaks)
I need to use columnsets (like they are used in the following example):
\definecolumnset[two][n=2]
\definecolumnsetspan[two][n=2]
\setupfootnotes[n=1,width=\hsize]
\starttext
\startcolumnset
... and here is an example that shows the problem:

As this footnote was one of the last changes that were done
before I wanted to send the book to the printer
a fast help would be very much appreciated.
Sorry, but it's really quite urgent -

Hi,
when using \startcolumns I could use:

\setupindenting[none]
\switchtobodyfont[8.5pt]\setupinterlinespace[line=10pt]

o How can I tell ConTeXt to balance the last page? I've tried something
like
\definecolumnset[two][n=2,tolerance=tolerant,distance=12bp]
\setupcolumnset [two][balance=yes]
but this doesn't work.

s I recall I've also tried to use a

Can anyone provide me with some hints so that I
can use some background color in columnsetareas ?

Great. This works. Now for something different. While learning ConTeXt,
I find that often the syntax escapes me. Take for instance:
\definecolumnset[example

After sttudying the sources and a bunch of trial and errors I can come up
with the following solution which works for a two solumns set!
\definecolumnset[example][n=2]
\define[1]\MargText
