[NTG-context] Wiki in Mobile(?) format

2024-08-01 Thread Gerion Entrup
Hi,

since a few weeks I have the problem that I get the mobile(?) view for the
wiki, when I open a "wiki.contextgarden.net" link.
However, the mobile view is not feature complete (colors and renderings are
missing).

This only happens in Qutebrowser (maybe it sets a header wrong).
Since the mobile view seems to be incomplete, is it possible to deactivate it
completely?
This is fixed when I open a www.contextgarden.net link.

As a comparison:

Open https://wiki.contextgarden.net/Command/setupframed
in Qutebrowser: wiki-setupframed-qutebrowser.png

Open https://www.contextgarden.net/Command/setupframed
in Qutebrowser: www-setupframed-qutebrowser.png

(Note: The pictures are really small to not exceed the MLs size limit.)

These are my headers for the request:
```
GET /Command/setupframed HTTP/1.1
The same request in Firefox:
Can you reproduce the problem?
[NTG-context] Wiki - test/proposal to further clarify documentation
2024-04-14 Thread garulfo
Hi all,
I just discover the Diátaxis documentation framework :
- https://www.diataxis.fr/
- 30min video : "What nobody tells you about documentation",
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t4vKPhjcMZg , from Daniele Procida at PyCon
2017
As I understand it, it can help both readers and writers of the documentation
by clarifying the purpose of each element.
So I started a potential new "welcome page" :
https://wiki.contextgarden.net/Main_Page2
The main lines would be :
- Tutorials: installation pages, step by step examples
- How-to guides: most of the existing wiki pages which are not
https://wiki.contextgarden.net/Commands/ ...
- Discussions and manuals: most of the existing manuals
- Reference : the pages dedicated to commands which already include link to
mailing list, stack exchange, ConTeXt's source
 - https://wiki.contextgarden.net/Category:Commands
 - https://wiki.contextgarden.net/Special:PrefixIndex?prefix=Command%2F
To match the logic of Diátaxis, maybe some material from command pages should
be moved from "Reference" to "How-to guides",
for example, when the examples go beyond "pure description" and begin to deal
with "how-to" cases, e.g. :
- Reference for setuphead: https://wiki.contextgarden.net/Command/setuphead
- How-to guides for headings: https://wiki.contextgarden.net/Titles
If it make sense, and according to your feedbacks, I can continue to reallocate
existing contents.
Thanks for your feedback and thoughts.
[NTG-context] Wiki - question about Command/ pages which start with a space character
2024-04-14 Thread garulfo
Hi all,
Is it on purpose that 128 pages "https://wiki.contextgarden.net/Command/
" start with a space character ?
I didn't find an explanation in https://wiki.contextgarden.net/Command
For example, these two pages exist :
- https://wiki.contextgarden.net/Command/startbuffer
- https://wiki.contextgarden.net/Command/_startbuffer
If it is on purpose:
- What is the purpose, and which page should contain which documentation?
If it is not:
- Is there a way to automatically merge the content of the couple of pages, and
to remove the "wrong" pages, or should it be done manually ?
Thanks for your help.
[NTG-context] Wiki page : Mixed languages sample (French, Ancient Greek, Arabic, Chinese)
2024-03-01 Thread Jean-Pierre Delange
Dear List,
Several years ago I tried to write documents, mainly lectures, but also
essays, in which I tried to make several languages (Romance and
non-Romance) coexist.
Here below is an example of an attempt to compose an acceptable
document, in the form of an exercise in which Arabic and Chinese are
introduced into a document written in French. With footnotes and a few
framed lines.
I submit this example for your perusal and ask you whether it could
possibly appear on a wiki page devoted to the combination of
non-European languages in the same text. In English translation, of course.
Lorsqu'il s'agit de proposer un document dans une langue nationale (le
français, ni les mêmes {\em signes diacritiques} on se heurte à quelques
difficultés. Les suites logicielles comme Microsoft Office ou
LibreOffice ne manquent pas de puissance, mais à vrai dire, dès que nous
entrons dans les exigences de l'édition professionnelle, qui consistent
à présenter un texte lisible et enrichi (en notes, etc.), la situation
devient vite techniquement assez pénible. La situation la plus courante
que nous rencontrons dans les Lettres, en Philosophie, en Histoire, et
plus généralement dans les Humanités, est celle d'un texte dans lequel
il y a des citations d'auteurs grecs ou latin, avec des références en
notes de bas de page, qui contiennent du grec. Cela pourrait être
quelque chose comme ceci :
[NTG-context] Wiki update
2024-01-16 Thread Taco Hoekwater
Hi all,
I just updated the wiki ConTeXt to 20240108.
The tag on the wiki by default uses luametatex (LMTX), but if you
want luatex instead (MKIV), you can still do that by using .
There have been some problems recently because Hans’ new binaries needed a
newer version of various system libraries.
I fixed that this morning after Hraban spotted the issue, but it means that
there may be wiki pages with ConTeXt processing errors in them now. These can
be recognised by either the colorised “error” output, or some cryptic “copy
failed” message instead of the actual output.
If you see one of those pages, Edit it. For the colorised “error” output you
need to make a tiny change to the example itself (because that “error” output
is correct as far as the wiki software can tell, so you have to force it to
regenerate). For the “copy failed” case, you just have to start an edit and
then immediately save again. The wiki will autogenerate any missing examples on
save.
Best wishes,
Taco
[NTG-context] Wiki problem - labels missing from the main diagram on the Page Layout page
2023-11-05 Thread Bruce Horrocks
When I go to the page layout page on the Contextgarden wiki
the "typesetting areas" diagram is missing its text labels. If I click on the
diagram the Wiki takes me to the underlying layout.svg file and then I /do/ see
the labels.
This happens in both Safari and Firefox.
Any suggestions as to what needs to be changed to get the diagram to display
correctly?
I updated the list of included modules in
does.
If you know matrices, could you perhaps update the page
i'll add this (only a few line addition with no performance hit):
\definealign[MyAlign][r2l,flushleft]
so that you can do
\setupalign[MyAlign]
and you can also use it as value to the align parameter as well ...
the usual 'context abstraction'
so again something to wikify ...
Wanted to wikify, but is this already implemented?
sure
Ok, so then: Why will creating a page \definealign not create a page with
autogenerated syntax? And, the new option for \setupalign does not show up in
the autogenerated syntax overview at
I probably don't fully understand how the wiki works in these regards .. can
anyone clarify?
when there is a new key or option, wolfgang at some point will add it to
the setups so then it will show up (goes in batches); that is
indepdendent from examples; so when a new key/value is missing, just
signal wolfgang
2020-08-27 Thread Taco Hoekwater
Hi again,
Just now, I installed and update of the extension that replaces the default
edit form for Command pages by a dedicated form. This should make editing a
lot easier, since there is no longer any visible XML code to confuse you.
Best wishes,
Taco
[NTG-context] Wiki New Extension: ConTeXtXML
2020-08-20 Thread Taco Hoekwater
Hi,
As announced last week, I have been working on a wiki extension to control the
editing of /Command pages. That extension is now installed on the main wiki.
In short, we will switch to XML as the page model for newly created /Command
pages. This makes editing a bit harder, but it allows much better quality
control and (fairly) easy export and import.
The goal is to eventually be able to easily export all of the reference
documentation in the wiki to a separate system (for instance, Paul Mazaitis
plans to create a full-blown reference manual). In the current situation, this
is nearly impossible because there is so much variation in the content and
quality of the wiki /Command pages (not to mention that many are missing). We
also want it to be possible to merge improvements to the interface xml
definitions by Wolfgang without loosing any existing documentation work.
The documentation pages are here:
 https://wiki.contextgarden.net/Command
 https://wiki.contextgarden.net/Help:Command
 https://wiki.contextgarden.net/Extension:ConTeXtXML
After reading those, have a look at the three ‘work pages’:
 https://wiki.contextgarden.net/Document_level_commands_work_page
 https://wiki.contextgarden.net/Style_level_commands_work_page
 https://wiki.contextgarden.net/System_level_commands_work_page
All the bright red links are currently undocumented commands. Clicking on one
should bring you to the edit screen automatically, with a blob of XML
preloaded, ready for you to start writing.
All the dark red links are existing /Command pages. All of those are
traditional wiki text pages. Following those links will bring you to a normal
/Command page just like on the main wiki. If you want to see how one of those
pages would look like in the new system, you’ll have to rename the existing
page first (as explained in
https://wiki.contextgarden.net/Command#Pre-existing_pages )
If you do some work, please update those work pages!
Comments, suggestions and bug reports are more than welcome.
Please direct those to me personally or (better) to the wiki mailing list:
https://lists.contextgarden.net/mailman/listinfo/wiki
Have fun!
Taco
[NTG-context] Wiki New Extension Preview
2020-08-12 Thread Taco Hoekwater
Hi,
Some of you already know that I have been working on a wiki extension to
control the editing of /Command pages.
The goal is to eventually be able to easily export all of the reference
documentation in the wiki to a separate system (for instance, Paul Mazaitis
plans to create a full-blown reference manual). In the current situation, this
is nearly impossible because there is so much variation in the content and
quality of the wiki /Command pages (not to mention that many are missing). We
also want it to be possible to merge improvements to the interface xml
definitions by Wolfgang without loosing any existing documentation work.
After some evenings and weekends of steady discussion with Paul, Wolfgang and
some others on the wiki mailing list and a fair bit of hacking, this plan is
now starting to come together. In short, we will switch to XML as the page
model for newly created /Command pages. This makes editing a bit harder, but it
allows much better quality control and (fairly) easy export and import.
The new extension is not installed on the normal wiki yet, because it makes
sense to see if we can get some of the bugs ironed out before we start working
on actual /Command pages. It is my first ever Wiki extension and even my first
non-trivial php code, thus I am certain there will be bugs. So, while the
documentation pages are already on the normal wiki, any testing and/or
experimenting has to be done on the test wiki.
The documentation pages are here:
 https://wiki.contextgarden.net/Command
 https://wiki.contextgarden.net/Help:Command
 https://wiki.contextgarden.net/Extension:ConTeXtXML
and there is a small todo list here:
 https://wiki.contextgarden.net/User_talk:Taco
For playing around / experimenting / testing, have fun at
 https://wikitest.contextgarden.net/
(but read at least Help:Command first!)
A useful landing page on the test wiki to start playing around is:
 https://wikitest.contextgarden.net/Allcommands
which is a list of all the commands that are included in Wolfgang’s interface
xml (and thus available to be documented using the new wiki extension).
All the bright red links are currently undocumented commands. Clicking on one
should bring you to the edit screen automatically, with a blob of XML
preloaded, ready for you to start writing.
All the dark red links are existing /Command pages. Almost all of those are
traditional wiki text pagse. Following those links will bring you to a normal
/Command page just like on the main wiki. If you want to see how one of those
pages would look like in the new system, you’ll have to rename the existing
page first.
Be assured that nothing on the wikitest is permanent! As long as the browser
url says “ https://wikitest.contextgarden.net/ ” you cannot destroy anything
important. But don’t spend hours improving existing pages yet, this preview is
intended for catching bugs in the extension only.
Comments, Suggestions and Bug reports are more than welcome.
Please direct those to me personally or (better) to the wiki mailing list:
https://lists.contextgarden.net/mailman/listinfo/wiki
Have fun!
Taco
Along that line, we should also considering fixing the getting started navbox
or removing it altogether. It used to have a nice visual layout, but that was
lost when upgrading the wiki. In the current form, it uses too much vertical
space and it might be redundant with the new wiki structure.
Thanks. Both pages look good on mobile now. I am okay with merging this with
the old manuals page. A small suggestion is that we could omit the table of
content on this page, as it is almost redundant in the new format.
2/ After  the Manuals,  please find a proposal for the Welcome Page,
   which is probably trickier
   - https://wiki.contextgarden.net/Main_Page_TempProposal
   - https://wiki.contextgarden.net/Main_Page (the current)
   - 4 objectives :
1/ do something more visual, reduce the amount of text,
Some of us prefer text. What was earlier a one step process for me (go
to home page, search for keyword, go to page), is now a two step
process. But I agree that the new proposed layout is more friendly to
new users and support it.
Yes, I suspected that the current version had advantages as a result of
past iterations.
It would be interesting to identify the links that people want to access
in one step. We can list them in
https://wiki.contextgarden.net/Talk:Main_Page_TempProposal, and I will
try to find ways to integrate them.
Personally, I don't think that it is a big deal.
2/ provide a fairly comprehensive overview with less than 15
   topics,
    3/ but hold in one (big) screen,
4/ avoid redundancies on the Welcome Page,
5/ match both the Wiki's structure & the Manuals' structure.
Again, depending on  your feedbacks, I would be happy to improve it.
It's built from scripts  ==>  not too hard now to reorder, to adapt.
You should also document your work flow somewhere (perhaps the talk
page of the same page or a dedicated page on the wiki). That is useful
for long term maintainability of the wiki.
Done: two zip files are uploaded, with link and brief description in the
Talk zone of the respective pages.
Thanks.
I am okay with changing the main page as well. But since this is the main page,
let's wait for the other mods to chime in as well.
   topics,
This looks more reasonable on the phone. The 2nd half of the page
looks okay, but the first half still looks weird (too narrow and long
columns). Perhaps there is a way to may it a bit more responsive on
the phone.
See above, should be far better now.
4/ avoid redundancies on the Welcome Page,
5/ match both the Wiki's structure & the Manuals' structure.
Again, depending on  your feedbacks, I would be happy to improve it.
It's built from scripts  ==>  not too hard now to reorder, to adapt.
You should also document your work flow somewhere (perhaps the talk
page of the same page or a dedicated page on the wiki). That is useful
for long term maintainability of the wiki.
Done: two zip files are uploaded, with link and brief description in the
Talk zone of the respective pages.
Looks good. A few minor comments:
I haven't tested it, but the natural tables in context examples (in Sec 3.6)
should still work with latest versions.
The "context rehab for amsmath addicts" should be in math (or sciences) rather
than tables. (This reminds me, I should update that reference).
 - About providing zips of manuals per topics: maybe we could just
add a index.html in the distribution structure, to provide the
One concern that I have is how easy it is to navigate the page on the phone.
Currently, it does not really work on the phone. Is there some way to make it
more responsive?
Some of us prefer text. What was earlier a one step process for me (go to home
that the new proposed layout is more friendly to new users and support it.
i could probably extend that with a list option (there is actually a xml
generating the website which happens every update - from also rather
ancient xml files)
Re: [NTG-context] Wiki update
2019-05-30 Thread Procházka Lukáš Ing .
Hello Taco,
From now on, when you are editing the wiki (especially the /Command/CMD pages), you can use
CMD to output the formal table of arguments
for that CMD (omit the backslash)
For example,
 section
outputs a table with the formal calling convention(s) for the \section command.
Multiple tables actually, as it also outputs the alternative calls with
different arguments, and it outputs the definition of the internal \*section*
command, of which \section is an instance. (The parents of instances are
printed in a slanted font).
this is really great!
This gives idea what syntax "sugars" (alternatives) are possible and what args
may be used! This lacked for years!
===
I have not auto-replaced any of the handcrafted command page syntax tables in
the existing wiki pages, because quite often the current syntax table has
manual additions explaining various options. In the formal version these are
obviously not present, and I did not want to remove any of that extra
information.
Anyway, the nice thing about this new wiki plugin is that if you want to create a
page for a specific command that is not in existence right now, it is a simple matter
of going to the expected url, and creating a page with just a Syntax heading and a
tag.
For example (created a minute ago):
url:
 https://wiki.contextgarden.net/Command/setupdescription
content:
 == Syntax ==
 setupdescription
My suggestions is to add an auto-generated-command-syntax wiki-page-section,
too.
I find it very useful - just now one can see what are possibilities!
I added the following code into wiki page - just for testing purposes, anyone
can alter the page:
https://wiki.contextgarden.net/Command/section#Syntax
Syntax (generated automatically from ConTeXt definition)
section
And just now I can see that \section accepts syntax of the forms:
\section[MyRef]{My title}
\section[MyRef]{4.0}{My title}
\section[reference=MyRef,ownnumber=4.0,title={My title}]
So better for us if we find a way to COMBINE command descriptions already existing on wiki
WITH those generated via command injection.
Thanks again for the great job.
Best regards,
Lukas
Thanks go to Wolfgang for all the hard work!
Best wishes,
Taco
[NTG-context] Wiki update
2019-05-30 Thread Taco Hoekwater
Hi all,
Not sure how many of you remember this, but at the Kalenberg meeting in 2016
there was this talk:
===
 Setups
 Wolfgang Schuster (and Hans Hagen)
 The user interface is described in xml files but the actual descriptions
lagged behind development. Wolfgang spent a considerable amount of time to
describe all commands in detail and we updated the descriptive format in the
process. The rendering was partly redone, as was the help system and scripts
that use this information.
===
Since then, nothing much had been done with those updated xml files, which is a
big shame considering the enormous amount of work that went into the process.
But recently we have been discussing the wiki and (especially) the sorry state
of the reference portion of that. At some point, I realised that we could
rather easily combine the new xml interface files with a small wiki extension,
such that the wiki has easy access to the latest and greatest command list.
===
From now on, when you are editing the wiki (especially the /Command/CMD pages),
you can use CMD to output the formal table of arguments
for that CMD (omit the backslash)
For example,
 section
outputs a table with the formal calling convention(s) for the \section command.
Multiple tables actually, as it also outputs the alternative calls with
different arguments, and it outputs the definition of the internal \*section*
command, of which \section is an instance. (The parents of instances are
printed in a slanted font).
There are 2035 normal commands and 373 instances in the database, essentially
covering all the style- and document-level commands in ConTeXt.
I’ve decided not to add the low-level system commands because (apart from
perhaps a few special cases) these do not belong in general user documentation.
===
I have not auto-replaced any of the handcrafted command page syntax tables in
the existing wiki pages, because quite often the current syntax table has
manual additions explaining various options. In the formal version these are
obviously not present, and I did not want to remove any of that extra
information.
[NTG-context] [Wiki] list of editors
2019-04-01 Thread Henning Hraban Ramm
Ahoi!
I reworked https://wiki.contextgarden.net/Text_Editors
The split into "ConTeXt aware" and other editors didn’t make sense since they
got mixed, editors that are Unicode-disabled we should just ignore, and the
table had too many columns.
If you know one of these applications better, please add the missing features.
Additional features that *I* look for in an editor are e.g. project management
(at least a directory tree view) and git client. But maybe that’s out of focus
for that table.
Hopefully, I’ll have a new site up by the weekend. The drupal we
Dear Thomas,
Thank you for looking at those pages.
I didn’t realise that I would be traveling this week. I will add references and
some other changes after I return.
[NTG-context] Wiki pages on Unicode blocks
2017-10-25 Thread N. Raghavendra
Based on what I have learnt from the replies to my queries in the last
few days, I have added the following Wiki pages on Unicode blocks in
ConTeXt:
http://wiki.contextgarden.net/Unicode_blocks_in_ConTeXt
http://wiki.contextgarden.net/List_of_Unicode_blocks
I will be adding a section of references to each of these two pages in a
couple of days.
I am not an expert on anything, and would be glad to learn if there are
any errors in these pages.
Thanks and regards,
[NTG-context] WIKI - broken links to source files
2016-04-01 Thread Jan Tosovsky
Dear All,
there are broken links on several WIKI pages...
In e.g. http://wiki.contextgarden.net/Protrusion
there is
http://source.contextgarden.net/font-ext.lua
instead of proper one
http://source.contextgarden.net/tex/context/base/font-ext.lua
But when the latter link is clicked, instead of displaying the content I am
getting:
Internal Error - please restart the application!
Links to MkII source I couldn't locate at all.
A side note. Would it be possible to somehow grab Wiki content and verify if
such links to TEX or LUA files exists?
Thanks, Jan
[NTG-context] Wiki maintenance
2015-09-10 Thread Taco Hoekwater
Hi all,
Today I copied the ConTeXt wiki to a new server, in preparation for
the decommissioning the current old server, which should happen within
a week or so.
I’ve disabled wiki page editing at the old location for now, while we wait
for everybody’s DNS entries to catch up.
You will know that you are accessing the new location because:
* you can edit pages again :)
* there is a “powered by Semantic MediaWiki” logo at the bottom of the page.
If there is a problem at the new location, please warn me. I’ve tried to
install all the prerequisites on the new server, but chances are I missed
something.
Best wishes,
Taco
[NTG-context] Wiki page on color
2015-06-10 Thread Aditya Mahajan
Hi,
I am doing a major overhaul of the wiki page on colors. The current
page[1] had become tangled up with time and I think that it is better to
reorganize the information.
Since this is a major change, rather than simply editing the wiki page, I
have created a new page[2].
Please take a look at both pages:
[1]: http://wiki.contextgarden.net/Color
[2]: http://wiki.contextgarden.net/Color/sandbox
If you think that there is information on the original page that needs
to go to the new page, move it there. After a few days, I'll move page [2]
to page [1].
[NTG-context] Wiki / sample
2015-04-03 Thread Procházka Lukáš Ing . - Pontex s . r . o .
Hello,
the "Sample 2" on http://wiki.contextgarden.net/Command/definedescription
compiles well on my computer (one of the latest Ctx version)
but not on wiki.
(It happens to me time to time when I want to add a sample, mostly a snip from
the mailing list.)
IMHO, there is still a Ctx version mismatch between "latest Ctx Beta" (or another
"stable Ctx version") and that on wiki.
It would be nice:
- to know which Ctx version compiles wiki samples
(Ctx, Lua & MP "stamp" - automatically generated on each Ctx renewal -
would be useful to appear (on the initial?) wiki page),
- I guess wiki Ctx should renew more often (to prevent difference between the
latest Ctx and that on wiki enlarges).
Best regards,
Lukas
Re: [NTG-context] [wiki] fake account spam
2013-04-26 Thread Taco Hoekwater
Hi,
Currently we are using QuestyCaptcha w/ ConfirmEdit. This is definitely
supposed to be safer
than bitmap images unless the images become so complex that even humans get it
wrong,
which has happened for me on various sites and is the most annoying thing in,
like, ever!
I do not mind adding new questions and/or replacing all of them, but it is a
bad idea to send
the new ones to the mailing list, since somehow a spamnet seems to have found
the answers
and I doubt that they actually went to the trouble of looking up the answers on
pragma-ade.com
(but then again, weirder stuff has happened).
For now, I will quickly invent some of my own questions.
Best wishes,
Taco
Just found one (I had missed it when I sent my previous e-mail):
http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:ReCAPTCHA, nowadays merged into
http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:ConfirmEdit (which is not
ConfirmAccount).
ConfirmEdit can be configured to only present captchas to
non-logged-in users, when they try to edit or create a page, or create
an account. Might that be useful?
Or we could go old-school copy protection style: "What is the fifth
If we want to have a slightly higher barrier of entry: "Name one
undocumented command that you recently heard about on the mailing
Cheers,
I think it's a good idea to update the security questions --- it's
easy to do, it'll probably work, and we can always move on to stronger
measures that require more work. Below are some replacemetn questions.
* If you have a log of which questions get answered correctly,
perhaps only rotate out the bad question(s);
* If finding the cracked questions is nontrivial (i.e. more work than
'just open the log file and see which ones get answered every day'),
just replace them all.
If this works, hooray; if it stops working, we can either change the
questions again (if the spammers took long to get through) or move on
to e.g. the ConfirmAccount extension [1,2] (if the questions got
cracked quickly, so we are getting 'human' attention from the spammer
instead of his bots).
Confirm account means that a new user will not be able to quickly correct
typos etc. Isn't there a simple way to add a captcha to mediawiki. I am
not a big fan of Captchas, but the are the de facto standard for human
verification. A user only has to do it once, so it is not too big of an
annoyance either.
If this works, hooray; if it stops working, we can either change the
questions again (if the spammers took long to get through) or move on
to e.g. the ConfirmAccount extension [1,2] (if the questions got
cracked quickly, so we are getting 'human' attention from the spammer
instead of his bots).
Careful as their IPs could be spoofed, you might end up blocking
innocent users.
This could discourage people from fixing trivial stuff like
misspellings. Maybe add a note that they should drop a mail to
the list if they don’t know the answer.
Uh... ?
Why not some *really* tricky question like: "what keyword is to be used to
It would probably be best to:
1.) Remove all those account (attention: some users are actually
legitimate and contributed valid content).
2.) Find out if there is any problematic IP and block those IPs.
3.) Install something like
http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:ConfirmAccount and/or maybe
use both captcha and some context-specific question (honestly: if
users don't know how to answer some slightly more tricky question,
they shouldn't be able to get the account). We could use questions
I haven't been on wiki for a while and received a warning about the
[NTG-context] [wiki] fake account spam
2013-04-05 Thread Philipp Gesang
Hi all,
I’d like to draw your attention to the wiki. The spammers appear
to know the solution to the current entry barrier “What is
usually the last command in a ConTeXt source file (without the
backslash)?”, and the number of fake accounts is growing fast:
 http://wiki.contextgarden.net/Special:Log/newusers
They don’t, however, seem to vandalize yet, so I guess the postal
code of Hasselt is unbreakable with today’s technology ;-)
Nevertheless the account spam is messing up the recent changes
feed:
 http://wiki.contextgarden.net/index.php?title=Special:RecentChanges&feed=rss
Even if it’s not urgent, may I suggest we collect possible
replacements for the current question? I can’t image the damage
those accounts would do once they figure out how to post links.
Best
Dear Idris,
I have merged your output graphic into the article --- perhaps a bit
large, but I wanted to be sure the features were legible. Thank you
for including the PDF, that made things easier.
I have taken the liberty of moving the page title to Featuresets
---easier to remember, I think, and easier to link to. I've updated
your redirects, of cours. Open Type Font Features, [[Open Type
Fonts and Featuresets in MkIV]], and Font features all redirect
there.
Thank-you for writing this article, it is much appreciated.
The former is used in the "prelast" example on
So is it sure that mode=mkiv is OK [on wiki - its parser doesn't require quotation marks
Yes, the wiki's ConTeXt installation is about a year old, as you can see at
http://wiki.contextgarden.net/Help:Context
I remember not getting that to particular example to work, and in the
end wrapping it in instead of tags.
Hans, can you take the version in TeX Live 2012 and promote it to the
current stable version, or is that not so easy (or not your
responsibility? Once that is done, Taco can update the wiki's ConTeXt.
[NTG-context] Wiki example compilation failure
2012-09-02 Thread Procházka Lukáš Ing . - Pontex s . r . o .
Hello,
maybe the known problem with the wiki and the "current" Ctx versions.
The following code:
\setuppapersize[A5]
\starttext
\definedelimitedtext[mydt]
\setupdelimitedtext[mydt][left=\leftguillemot,right=\rightguillemot]
\quotation{Clancy of the Overflow}, by Banjo Paterson
\startmydt
 And an answer came directed in a manner unexpected, and I
 think the same was written with a thumbnail dipped in tar;
 't was his shearing-mate who wrote it, and verbatim I will quote it:
 \quotation{Clancy's gone to Queensland droving, and we don't know where he
are.}
\stopmydt
\stoptext
is successfully compiled by the current Ctx version whilst the same example on
http://wiki.contextgarden.net/Command/setupdelimitedtext is not.
Best regards,
Lukas
[NTG-context] Wiki - results differ?
2012-05-04 Thread Procházka Lukáš Ing . - Pontex s . r . o .
Hello,
Wiki and a file processed on a local computer give different results -
- please compare "http://wiki.contextgarden.net/Command/doif...";
and the example attached:
\starttext
 \ctxlua{test = true}
 Test is \ctxlua{commands.testcase(test)}{True}{False}.
 \ctxlua{test = false}
 Test is \ctxlua{commands.testcase(test)}{True}{False}.
\stoptext
The result should be:
"
Test is True.
Test is False.
"
which works fine on my computer.
But wiki shows (wrongly):
"
Test is TrueFalse.
Test is TrueFalse.
"
although the same code is used in the example:
\starttext
 \ctxlua{test = true}
 Test is \ctxlua{commands.testcase(test)}{True}{False}.
 \ctxlua{test = false}
 Test is \ctxlua{commands.testcase(test)}{True}{False}.
\stoptext
Any idea why both results differ?
And how to make wiki show the good result?
Best regards,
Lukas
[NTG-context] Wiki: examples
2012-04-06 Thread Procházka Lukáš Ing . - Pontex s . r . o .
Hello,
suggestion:
As ConTeXt-generated examples (automatically generated by ...
) on wiki are often:
- too long and
- their font is often too big compared to the other font used on the wiki page.
(E.g. http://wiki.contextgarden.net/Command/definedescription.)
(WinXP, normally using Opera browser with its default font settings.)
Personally, when I want to show both ConTeXt source and result (preferred, as it's not
necessary to create "context-wiki" source and context-valid source), I'm using
the following setup:
\setuppapersize[A5] % To narrow the result
\setupbodyfont[8pt] % To make font size closer to that of wiki
\setuppagenumbering[location=] % Page numbers are unnecessary in most cases
(E.g. http://wiki.contextgarden.net/Command/defineenumeration.)
- What setups do YOU normally use?
- Do you think it would be useful to specify a recommendation for setup for
examples?
- If so, where to place it? To
http://wiki.contextgarden.net/How_to_edit_wiki_pages? Or elsewhere?
Your opinions are welcome.
Best regards,
Lukas
[NTG-context] wiki correction
2011-11-13 Thread Hans van der Meer
I think I spotted a small error in the parameterlisting of \setupformulae on
the wiki:
parameter "after dimension" probably should be "spaceafter dimension" because
calling with the former has no effect, the latter does.
Though using it does not change the difference in spaceafter between
\placeformula and \placeformula[-].
Is the command reference in the Wiki auto generated or do I just expand
We are planning to think about considering to install MKIV on the garden
server. But this will take some time. We are currently in the progress of
handling the ownership / server to other people and machines, and after that
new things may come.
If there are some able system administrators with enough spare time, we could
[NTG-context] Wiki: MkIV vs. MkII
2011-04-08 Thread Procházka Lukáš
Hello,
I encountered a problem running an example by MkII (which seems to be default)
rather than by MkIV (see related discussion on
http://www.ntg.nl/pipermail/ntg-context/2011/058369.html).
Although in many examples (I mean ... wiki source code) in
doesn't matter which Ctx version is being used for compilation, sometimes it may make a
difference.
So I seems to me to be good:
- to provide both compilation engines, MkII and MkIV,
- to provide a attribute, e.g. or or something like this to force the specified Ctx to compile.
Best regards,
Lukas
Most likely because "\" is technically not a valid character in URLs
Hi,
- its name is still "\doif"
- and not like "Reference/en/doif..."
I have moved the page to Reference/en/doif...
(BTW: It seems to me better if all commands appeared without (the common)
"Reference/en/", but OK, now I'd like to achieve the normal look of reference items; so
how to get "Reference/en/doif...".)
I know it's ugly, but I won't change anything.
Once the "\doif..." page was created (somewhere?), how to "move" it to
"Reference/en/doif..."?
I am not sure if normal users (not sysops) can move pages.
- When I'm prompted for creation of a new page (for a missing item), I have no
option where; I just can create one.
So if I've created a (bad) "\doif..." page, how to "transform" it to a
"Reference/en/doif..." page? - I.e. 1) to change location and 2) to remove the leading "\" from the
page name?
see above. One can move pages, but I am not so sure who can do that.
- You may still view and/or edit the "\doif..." page source, especially:
...
(BTW: What is affected by "Reference|name=doif..."
That's a template. See
http://wiki.contextgarden.net/index.php?title=Reference/en/doif...&action=edit
and what by "Category:Reference/en|doif"?
Thats a category. Category pages with links are automatically created if you say
Category:.
- Seem similar, but I'm using "doif..." (with 3 dots) in the former case and
"doif" in the latter one.
Last thing:
The title "\doif..." appears TWICE on the page
http://wiki.contextgarden.net/%5Cdoif... - how to make it show just once?
The first is the title of the page (Reference/en/doif...) and the second is the
exact name of the command. No real perfect solution, but it's just the way it
is.
I'd appreciate if we can move this discussion to the public mailing list.
Thanks
Hi Jonas,
thanks for extending the wiki. For a start I’d like to recommend
two things:
(1) as this comparison might grow rather large, so I guess it
deserves its own page and a catchy lemma under which you
would expect this information to be found;
(2) the row ‘utf8 in text’ is ambiguous: concerning mkii and
latex2e the functionality depends on the tex engine used.
Maybe a subdivision of this row could clarify things?
