Christ - setting my nuke session to use 8 - not 16 threads - really speeds
things up!!!
Thats ridiculous!

Neil,I know this was a part of a longer thread, but where do you change the threads settings? I'd like to give it a try...Thanks,RichRich Bobo

What processor?
And speeds what up? Reading in, rendering out, general interactivity?

Hi Peter
Yes
Boxx 8520 Workstation WS DUAL XEON X5550 2.66GHz, 8MB cache, 1333MHz, 6.4 GT/s
QPI (Quad-Core)
Playback speeds up - and general updates as i skip across the timeline. I
wouldn't say twice as fast - but getting there.
I havent yet tested this fully - to see what works faster and
I did an actual stop watch when we talked about this before and I was
getting around 34% by only setting nuke to the actual cores not using
virtual cores on a box with westermer xeons.

I
said what you just said. I just wanted to verify it. In fact even in

between the two processes.

ok after the previous conversation I did some test here. on current gen
xeon MACS. literally I can render 2 of the same comp with interleaved
frames significantly faster then the same comp set to 16 threads. Its not
even close. LIke 30% faster to render 2 instances of nuke on the same comp
How many physical cores do you have?

dual quad xeon 8 cores real 8 virtual. (westmers?) running 2 instances
with 8 shouldn't be faster then a single 16 especially if you take all
