About 730 this morning I watched an olive sided flycatcher hawking insects for
about 5 minutes. Was regularly perching on a dead snag about half way up road
to nature center. It was virtually identical spot several of us saw an olive

morning I walked the landfill from 345-445 breeze was up a bit so quite

point park were 14 black vultures. That's the most I've seen up here. While the

I along with several other people had great looks at the Lark Sparrow at Croton
Point today between 2-3 PM. The bird does tend to wander around the area at the
bottom of the nature center driveway but with some quiet persistence it usually
comes back to the area, often in the company of House
The Lark Sparrow continues to work a wide circle around the same area as
first reported this morning. (Road up to nature center near Willow. Both
sides of road.)

directions were spot on. Bird was found in the largest patch of bushes on the
left side of the road up to the nature center after the willow. Great looks and
was pretty stationary for a while. Good luck!

At 6:30 met recent SUNY ESF grad Kyle Bardwell -- who has secured employment in
his chosen field of environmental engineering -- for some early morning birding
at The Point. Having to leave just before 8, he is learning how work gets in

satisfying number and variety of migrants and nesters. A dozen warbler
species included Nashville, Tennessee, Black-throated Blue and Green,

In the midst of a dense fog completely hiding the Croton and Hudson Rivers,
at least a dozen woodcock were peenting and twittering over the E side of
the landfill hill at dusk tonight at Croton Point County Park, Westchester
County. First peent at 7:20pm.

7:15 this morning there were 3 snipe on grass left side of "traffic" circle
just before main parking lot. Also one N. Harrier and still several Eagles
around

The redheads were still present this am. I had fewer BE than 20 but seven were
perched all visible from the low road, 4 in one tree by water; imm. red
shouldered hawk perched on tree right on low road (the gravel road w wine
cellars) but biggest surprise was a hermit thrush which I was able to
4 Redheads and 4 Common Mergansers were seen at the Croton Train Station
from the parking area near the train bridge at around 4pm yesterday. Saw
at least 20 Bald Eagles from this parking area, and the park itself near
the RV area...Happy birding...Martin Carney

There were many common redpolls in mixed flock of goldfinch and siskins
yesterday even feeding on ground w juncos and WT sparrows. Sporadic reports
over the last week so they are likely hanging around. Best spot seems to be in
trees just at the left turn off, from the paved road (past the RVs)
