Re: [Opensim-users] The very last error

2017-10-28 Thread Shaun T. Erickson
Nothing is wrong. It’s an optional thing that you could configure, if you
wanted. You haven’t, so it just warns that it won’t work as is. Perhaps
they could change it to an INFO messsge, instead if a WARN message, but
that would be all, I think.

A warning is NOT an error. It is simply letting you know that a particular

Re: [Opensim-users] Using FCDN in the Regions.ini...

2016-02-23 Thread Shaun T. Erickson
I have used an FQDN everywhere in Sanctuary's configuration, for many years
now. Basically, the rule of thumb has been that you either have to use IP
addresses everywhere, or use an FQDN everywhere, because OpenSim does string
comparisons in places where you might expect an IP address to get resolved
first, except that it doesn't. In other words, in a comparison, it will, for
example, not consider 65.78.40.167 to be the same as sanctuary.homelinux.org,
even though they are equivalent.

I do not, however, do split DNS, so I can't speak to that. I do run my grid
behind a firewall, with no issues, though.

You should diff your config files against those delivered with 0.8.1,
merging your changes into the new ones. Just copying files over,
blindly, is a recipe for disaster.

If, after you've done that, you still have issues, let us know.

I am confused.

Mean this that http://opensimulator.org/wiki/OpenSimSearch is

You misunderstand.

Diva made changes to Core OpenSim Development code. The code that is
going to become 0.8.1, which you are running a release candidate of.
This has nothing to do with her separate diva distribution.

It is simply a change for the next version of OpenSim. Module writers
need to update their modules so that they will work with the next
version of OpenSim.

Not quite true. Being that someone, I can say that with authority. :)

Server support exists for export permissions for all simple items
and all prims rezzed in world.

This means, you can set the export permission on things like
clothing in your inventory, but you can not set the export
permission for prims there. Prims have to be rezzed, the permission
set and then taken back.

Also, export permission on simple objects can not be changed in prim
inventory, only in user inventory.

Within these restrictions, it works. Only recent Singularity has the
code for this. In OpenSim, support needs to be announced to the
viewer by using sim features.

under [SimulatorFeatures], set ExportSupported=true

Sorry there is no real documentation on the feature yet but these
steps should make it work for you.

Const Env expansion is broken at the moment. I discovered this last
night, and BlueWall confirmed it this morning and is looking into it.

It works for the last version I was running, fc940ab - r25619, from
December 23rd.

Re: [Opensim-users] llVolumeDetect

2014-10-17 Thread Shaun T. Erickson
I'm curious about something. Unless you have an old, original, Blamgate,
made by Pathfinder Lester, then all other Blamgates are made by Shaun
Emerald (me - I started with his and have since rewritten it
completely). But neither his nor mine use llVolumeDetect() ...

 {
llVolumeDetect(FALSE);// toggle bug fix in Opensim
llVolumeDetect(TRUE);

The widely used hypergrid Blamgate teleporter I based my work on
would sometimes not work after a reset. The llVolumeDetect prim
property did not get preserved after a restart.

I eventually figured out that a changed() event with the
Opensim-specific CHANGED_REGION_RESTART ( not
CHANGED_REGION_START) flag is needed to turn llVolumeDetect(FALSE)
and llVolumeDetect (TRUE) again. This will turn the collision off
and on again. I have found this, and only this, works reliably.

// Works in

default
{
state_entry() {
llVolumeDetect(TRUE);
}
collision_start(integer total_number){
llSay(0, Bumped: +(string)total_number);
}
changed(integer what){
if (what  (CHANGED_REGION_RESTART)// not
CHANGED_REGION_START, that is for Second Life, REstart is for Opensim
{
llVolumeDetect(FALSE);// toggle bug fix in Opensim
llVolumeDetect(TRUE);
}
}
}

Re: [Opensim-users] Map V2 and hypergrid

2014-09-11 Thread Shaun T. Erickson
Diva and lkalif got together at one point and did something that made it
so that (with Singularity [and I suppose Replex, now]) the local grid's
map tiles would display after you made an HG TP. I even vaguely recall
setting up my grid to provide the map tiles for that, so that visitors
could see my map, but I don't recall what exactly they and I did,
anymore. I don't know how many other grids might have made the grid-side
change, as I did. But with it, I think the only tile you couldn't see
was when you search for the remote region in your map.

Maybe if we can dredge up what it was they did, and what the grid-die
change was again, we could get the change in Firestorm and get grids to
make the change they need to, too.

It took me some time to understand that we have two distinct map systems.

Map V1 stores maptiles in the asset server. Map V2 uploads them in a
directory using MapImageServerURI internally, and serves them to the
viewer through MapTileURL GIVEN DURING LOGIN.

And that's the whole problem because V2 viewers won't see the map in
hypergrid since (I suppose) their map is bound to their login grid.

Note that, for the time being, V2 map will get considerably confused
on HG teleports. The first step was to make the map work. The next
step is fixing the map for the Hypergrid. There's a brute-force way of
doing it, and there's an elegant way of doing it. The elegant way of
doing it requires collaboration with viewer developers. Let's see what
we can do togetherŠ

(end quote)

This is not implemented in the latest Firestorm, when the old and
venerable Imprudence displays the map perfectly in hypergrid.

So my question : is there any way to force V2 viewers to use V1 map?
