This is a different issue. You only have installed the Scanner (as
confirmed by openvas-check-setup) but not the Manager (as also confirmed
by openvas-check-setup).

2015-03-18 Thread Matthew Mundell
A quick question, is it possible to change the subject of alerts ?
Theoretically it's a call to sendmail, so yes I guess ?

The subject is hard coded in Manager, so it's only possible if you change
the C code.

Hi,

I am at a loss to get OpenVAS to do a scan. No matter what I try I always get
the same result. That is nothing. All it does is run for a few seconds and then
stop. A search with Google reveals that I am not alone. The log file contains:

The advice seems to be to install an old version (around 2010 or 2011 vintage)
version of libmicrohttpd. Sadly that version is no longer available. However,
having looked at the code I suspect that the Failed to gnutls_bye is not
relevant.

This is version 7 of OpenVAS.

openVAS 7.0 manager package on openSuse OS.
I have installed openVAS libraries and openVAS scanner without problems.
But during the installation of openVAS manager i have a problem.
I have executed the cmake command and its execution is OK.
When i try to perform the make command it return this error:
error: call to function ‘process_otp_scanner_input’ without a real prototype

I have seen in the install.txt file that to remove this problem i have to
perform the command with the option -DIGNORE_UNPROTOTYPED_CALLS=1.

I tried also this way but make method don’t allow to use this option, this
option is allowed only by cmake method.
So i tried to execute the cake command with this option and then the make
command but the result is the same :(

Do you have any suggestion?

Thank you very much in advance

2014-07-01 Thread Chris
Hi list,

i've checked my /var/log/openvas/openvassd.dump during a scan with OpenVAS6 and
noticed a lot of:

nasl_make_list: undefined variable [#0-#3] skipped

messages in it. The only reference which i've found for this message is this
commit:

http://lists.wald.intevation.org/pipermail/openvas-commits/2009-November/005911.html

which seems to fix this in one NVT.

Is this warning something to worry or can i just ignore it?

Thanks in advance for a reply.

Oh you're using the Atomic repository. That should work. Could you post
to openvas-distro so the maintainer can see? Else you can ask on IRC, he's
normally around.

Trying to get OpenVAS installed and running on Fedora 14 64-bit -
 every=

went OK until I went to run the openvas-check-setup script. It tells
 m=

there is no database, and to run openvasmd -rebuild. When I do this,
 i=

 aborts and core dumps.

Might be the chmod issue. Touch the database before doing the --rebuild

touch PREFIXvar/lib/openvas/mgr/tasks.db

where PREFIX depends on how you installed (usually /usr/local/ or /).

not sure whether there is a misunderstanding here: The list I posted
named proprietary plugins we are missing to reactivate GPL plugins. So
it is even absolutely correct the veritas*.nasl appear on this list.

In other words, none of the listed plugins is present in
openvas-plugins/scripts.
Including any veritas*.nasl which I just double-checked to make sure my
analysis script is not buggy ;-)

My mistake then :)

Note that contrarily to what is said there, a missing dependency does
not deactivate a plugin -- the plugin will run nevertheless, but
there will be less info in the KB. While in some cases it means the
plugin will not run (ie: if it depends on a specific KB item), in
most cases it will run fine.
For instance, the absence of the httpver.nasl plugin does not
deactivate all the http-related plugins, they'll just assume that the
remote web server is at least speaking HTTP/1.0.

Hi OpenVAS community,

I have been contacted by Tenable. They are pretty sure
some plugins in openvas-plugins module are present
that should not be there due to never being GPL licensed.
Basically it should at least be anything that matches
  grep -i script_copyright.*Tenable.* scripts/*

Just a clarification : I was referring to the list of plugins seen in

The current Tenable GPL feed does indeed contains some scripts (C)
Tenable which are explicitely released under the GPL (such as
gpl_feed.nasl) - redistributing those is obviously allowed.
