hi there
i did quite a bit of research last year on ECV and i
was under the impression the optimal time to attempt
ECV is actually 37 weeks. at 34 weeks you actually
have a higher inital success rate but also a much
higher rate of reversion so you may end up just having
to do it again. and even
So why is it that ecv is not promoted for transverse lay?

Thanks Brenda and Judy,
The Mum I looked after
was Thai, spoke very little englishand had shared care with a lovely GP
ie. came to the hospital system late. I wondered how many of the "risks" she had
taken onboard with the communication problem. She was a multi and when she came

hi all
it is recommended in some cases. If membranes are
intact, version to cephalic or breech presentation can
be tried. I only know of one report on this : a series
of 12 women in labor with a transverse lie who were
managed with external version under tocolysis. It was
successful in ten women
i forgot to say that if ECV is done before labour in a
transverse lie, people usually induce the woman soon
after because theres a much higher rate of reversion
than with breech turns. so its a question of whether
to wait and try ECV again if needed or induce while
the babys in a longitudinal

Yes, mistakes can be made by hosp labs on the blood typing of the
newborn. Happened to me. Two neg parents, first child neg. Normally I
wouldn't have even checked the bld type of the 2nd child but the parents
wanted the ABO group. Monogamous couple. Had to beg to have the lab
check again.

EXPOSURE IN UTERO
A new chemical study of umbilical cord samples from the American Red

In my original post I was making a suggestion based on
natural selection not knowing that the neg gene is always recessive (yes I also
did some research). Because the negative gene IS RECESSIVE two negative
parents have only negative genes to pass on and therefore cannot have a positive
Dear Wendy and all,
Naturally conceived and vaginal birth of
triplets happened at Parkes (home of The Dish) 23 years ago,
before ultrasound was available locally.
We were confident of twins, all babies did
well. These days we are not allowed to

Thanks Gloria. It's encouraging that you reckon it's very unlikely
they'll stay transverse. My friend is currently 36 weeks with same kind of
twins, hers have been both head down for ages, now the higher one is
transverse. I gather if at least the lower one gets her head lined up
nicely
I've been told that once the first twin is birthed,
the second attendant should stand behind the mother and press attendants' hands
firmly against the sides of the uterus from the backto encourage the
second one to be a longitudinal lies. Has anyone on this list done
this? I have virtually
Gloria,
Would you be happy to share the name where that

Phoebe (Friends) had vaginal triplets a few years
ago - I was amazed that an American show would have a natural birth let alone a
natural multiple birth. Then Rachel had a vaginal breech too - not
diagnosed til 2nd stage. We had this discussion some time back
This is also advertised in the recent Ace Graphics
book. I read the advert and would love to see it.

I also choose to vaccinate my children and myself

Hi All
Are there any midwives willing to work in the
richmond area (for a woman 2nd bub due March 05) that are happy for me to pass
on their contact details to her. I know a few of you who work in Sydney but
thought it best to ask as I'm not sure who is near Richmond. You can reply to me
actually they are still giving the live polio vaccine, I discussed this with my
