Dear List, I just had a
wonderful follow through experiance - minus a birth! i have been
following this wonderful women thru since mid 2002,and she was due 7/1/03,
however went 10days over with her now 21month yo. her 1st
labour was a swift 6 hrs, so i had a hunch this one maybe the same!
SK is also coming to Brisbane in early March. Will keep you posted with
details. Leigh

Did you see how much some of them are paying their ob's? This is out of
pocket that they can't claim back from their private health insurance. Some
of them are having to pay a $1,000 fee (non claimable) on top of their
consultations and birth fee. I'd much rather pay that to a midwife anyday!

I have been reading the ozmidwifery dialogue about the MIPP page in Birth
Matters with interest. I believe having the title of MIPP seems to
narrow the scope of independent midwifery matters to the Victorian arena.
Perhaps the MIPPS page
In Adelaide it is less expensive to birth with a private midwife than our
top obs, costing parents upwards of $1,500-$2000 easily plus the expensive
necessary special ultrasound they recommend and any other costs involved.
Not to mention the pedeatrician's fees.
Our midwives fees were the best

Yes well i think that cost needs to be a matter of priority - people
pay $1000's of dollars each year to fix their cars and houses etc so why
is it such a big deal to pay for your own physical and mental safety - (I
am refering here to paying a midwife!
