VLC is amazing for video. However winamp is my audio player and there's no
reason at all not to use it if it's what you like. it's not as though audio

My usual video viewing on the computer involves loading an avi or .mkv
container file into VLC. These play without a hitch normally and I'm very

I dont' know about Itunes, but you can certainly do this with Winamp, so
there is likely an appropriate plugin or option. Look for normalise or
gain, perhaps...
That said, I wouldn't really recommend doing this, myself, but I guess it's
just a matter of personal preference.
