Converting files

2004-11-01 Thread TerriStimmel
Hello everyone,
I was wondering, can I convert Real Player files into mp3?
If so, can I just convert them in the same way I might convert an ogg file?
You know, 44,000 sampling rate, and so forth.
Thank you,
Terri

Gold Wave files revisited

Hello all,
A little while back, someone posted a list which contained mp3 files a
person could use for using Gold Wave. With help from Juan, I received the

Realone is very good but jaws is sooo slow with it!!
that's a real shame because it's really accessible.
that's the problemw ith alternatives for programs like real player. they
don't have the code sources so, to put it this way, no-one but you is
responsible for anything that could happen to your system.
i'm not a pattent or copyright freak yet, for my system's safety I prefer
to be careful.
Besides I can support windows media files with real player as windows media
player is not blind friendly and not convenient at all for my own use :)))

Hi Doug!
winamp canot play real audio content. I saw a plug-in once allowing to
read real audio content but I would never guarantee that it works.
Anyway we can find nothing on the plug-in section of winamp.com.
it ahs to do with copyright and pattent issues. so I think you'll have
to bear with real player to play real content

Do you mean:
While listening to music or other recording (or sound transmission), your
headphone filtered out the train noise but let you listen voice conversations
in the noisy passenger compartment. Your headphone actually let you
selectively filter or not filter complex sound patterns? WOW!

Michael Lang [EMAIL PROTECTED] said:

I have the Bose Quiet Confort II. They're much more expensive, but I
think, they are also much better. One puts the batterie into one of the
ear pieces, no extra box on the cable. In addition to their electronic
noise cancellation system, they're completely closed. The trains here in
Germany are a bit noisy, but with the Bose, it's nevertheless fun to
listen to spoken word stuff while travelling in such a train.

Hi Mary John here
I've got a pear of headphones like them and yes you can use it on a
computer
My ones I can so far use them on a T.V. also on a computer and also have
them on my Hi-fi
Most of the time they don't have batteries and also the headphones have
an
on and off button on the headphones
With regards to the batteries normally on the left ear depending which
way
your wearing them there's a door that you have to stick your nails in and
pull it down and the batteries would be in there and normally the on and
off
button is just on the bottom of the side of the headphones that have got
the
batteries but just underneath a square button
I'll tell you how to set them up,
Plug the power plug into a wall socket and then plug the power plug
little
end into the plug on the right hand side on the back of the sencer
Now that will be the sencer powered up when you switch it on
Next, take the lead that is the one with the headphone socket on the end
of
it and plug one end into the back left of the sencer and plug the other
end
into what ever your planning to listen to
Now your ready to listen to what ever your planning to listen to
Turn the plug on and then find the on button on the back of the sencer if
you have got sight a light will appear when the button is in the right
place.
Next, when the light appears, take the headphones and find the battery
compartment and put the batteries in and close the door on the headphones
Next, find the on button on the headphones when you do find it there will
be
one or two lights that will appear on the headphones and also through the
headphones you will hear a whistling at first this is just the headphones
warming up
And away you go with my headphones I can walk around the whole house and
even down the garden which our garden is quite long
So I hope I've helped and have fun

to solve the problem go to your winamp go to preferences and then media

  like
  RP10 so I always cancel.

I've been reluctant to try Real Alternative.

 Hi.
You'll need two programs to play Real audio in Winamp, not just Real
Alternative. You need the Tara plug-in for Winamp as well as Real
 Alternative. Download Tara from
 http://www.free-codecs.com/download_soft.php?d=349s=221
 and Real Alternative from
 http://whitestick.co.uk/progs/realalternative127.exe
Be sure that all versions of Real player are uninstalled from your
system when you install Real Alternative.

recording with goldWave
press f11 to enter control
ctrl+tab to record
check delayed recording level
delayed recording threshhold 1.0
delayed recording duration (the length of silence before pausing) Mine
is
at 2.5 seconds
delayed recording prebuffer 1.00 (I leave this alone because I'm just not
sure)
delayed recording time stamp cues leave unchecked
record mode set to unbounded (this way if you aren't sure how long
the
cassette is you can set the initial record length for 2:00:00recording
will
automatically pause when it reaches your delayed recording duration)
enter
To start a record session
press ctrl+n to start a new session
here you will find several boxes where you determine wheter you want mono
or
stereo, size, length of recording, quality
ctrl+f9 starts rcording
ctrl+f8 stops

Hi Cheryl,
Once you have the cable connected to the cassette player, and the sound
card,
You will need to go to the volume control, and set your recording source
to,
line-in,
then choose what application you are going to use for the recording.
You can use GoldWave, however, I am not familiar with the recording
setup.
But I can tell you that GoldWave has everyfeature you will need.
Something to keep in mind, if you are recording voice, you may want to
set
your recording format to mp3, to conserve disk space, because wav files
typically take up about 10mb per minute.
MP3's take up only about 1mb per minute.

to solve the problem go to your winamp go to preferences and then media

this way the software you use to play your wma files (.asx) will play then
and you won't have to save them as (which anyway does not work)

Hope this helps

Hi Alan.

You only need download the ASPI driver if CDEX tells you that it's needed.
Without this driver CDEX will not even start.

If you're able to start CDEX then you've already got this driver somewhere
on your system. It comes with Nero for a start and probably lots of other
applications.

Re: Playing Real Audio content

2004-11-01 Thread Kevin Lloyd
The latest recommendations coming from the winamp for the blind list is to
install real player 10 or 10.5, windows media player and winamp 5.05.

All co-exist quite nicely these days and each can be configured only to play
what you want them to play.

I personally have all of these programs installed and have no problems.

The Tara plug in is well out of date and threads on this now unsupported
plug in just don't go anywhere.

A couple more questions about Adobe Audition.

2004-11-01 Thread Mike Mote
Hi there! I have the Adobe scripts now, and I'm just wondering how I can edit on the
fly using Adobe audition. For example, I would like to edit out big gaps of silence
during a file. Is there a hot key that allows me to edit on the fly. In sound forge,
it's left bracket to select the beginning of the part I want to delete, and right
bracket to highlight the end, and then you press the delete key. I'm wondering if
this function is available in adobe.

Hello all,
A little while back, someone posted a list which contained mp3 files a
person could use for using Gold Wave. With help from Juan, I received the
files, but would like the URL for the website as it might be helpful at a
later date. It had something to do with for the people I believe.
Thanks,

Hi.
You'll need two programs to play Real audio in Winamp, not just Real
Alternative. You need the Tara plug-in for Winamp as well as Real
Alternative. Download Tara from
http://www.free-codecs.com/download_soft.php?d=349s=221
and Real Alternative from
http://whitestick.co.uk/progs/realalternative127.exe
Be sure that all versions of Real player are uninstalled from your
system when you install Real Alternative.

 Hi Doug!

winamp canot play real audio content. I saw a plug-in once allowing
 to
read real audio content but I would never guarantee that it works.
Anyway we can find nothing on the plug-in section of winamp.com.
it ahs to do with copyright and pattent issues. so I think you'll
 have
to bear with real player to play real content

I tried version 3.53 and didn't find it any less accessible. I went back to
3.31 because quickmx is 3.31 spacific and I wanted to be able to use that

version were in the chat function, which I haven't found to be accessible
