Is that a Soundmax AD-1980 codec? If so, then I bet what's actually happening is the card isn't muting, it's just dropping by about -36 DB or so. If it's anything like one of the computers I have here, you can still tell there's something there if you crank your speakers up by a lot, but really

I have done a few burns using Windows Media--so far, all successfully thankfully. 1. I rip the songs I want from a CD using CDEX. IMPORTANT: F-8 rips in .wav format which is what you likely want for a CD. Once I have burned the CD, I delete the .wav file as it takes up mega space on the hard
