The sound volume is low.
Hello! Maybe this deppends on my soundcard but since i bought my new computer i have to turn up the volume on my stereo much higher than before. I have a built-in ac97 soundcard. Also the mike volume has gone far to low and there are alot of hissing and such things. Maybe i have to purchase a better soundcard? Re[2]: soundmax card mutes but does not actually mute
Is that a Soundmax AD-1980 codec? If so, then I bet what's actually happening is the card isn't muting, it's just dropping by about -36 DB or so. If it's anything like one of the computers I have here, you can still tell there's something there if you crank your speakers up by a lot, but really that's about it. The AD-1980 is pretty bad about this, although most other sound max cards I've seen don't do that. I generally don't like sound max much anyway. ___ PC-Audio List Help, Guidelines, Archives and more... http://www.pc-audio.org To unsubscribe from this list, send a blank email to: [EMAIL PROTECTED] This list is a service of MosenExplosion.com. RE: Creative Labs Sound Cards
Thanks to everyone for all their help. I found an E-mail contact for Creative Labs who advise that there is a basic driver with MS-Windows but they say that I cannot connect up my TOSLINK cable to the digital out. I have a little converter which came with my TOSLINK cable, I think that it goes from a 3.5 jack to the TOSLINK connector type, I am not sure why I can't use this really but am sure that I am missing something completely. SoundForge panic please help!
Hi all, hoping someone can help me out with this rather urgent problem I've got. I'm sound editing and need to get my package in later today. I am editing quite a lot of audio and so have done that trick where you go into the special menu, done the 'treat as cut list' and 'play as cut list' things. After finishing my work I hit the 'convert to new' option and sat back expecting all the edits to take place and spit out a new perfectly edited file. But no. It did something weird. After just a few seconds it opened a new edit window and weirdly instead of having a finished edited version, what it had actually given me was a long montage of all the bits that I didn't want, all the bits I had edited out. It was a 2 minute file of all the edited out bits rather than a 20 minute finished file with those bits missing. This has never happened before. Does anyone know what happened or how I can correct it? I'm using Soundforge 4.5 and jaws 4.5 also. Your help much appreciated. ___ PC-Audio List Help, Guidelines, Archives and more... http://www.pc-audio.org To unsubscribe from this list, send a blank email to: [EMAIL PROTECTED] This list is a service of MosenExplosion.com. -BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE- Hash: SHA1 Patrick. Yes that is it exactly. I guess my subject line is misleading. In my original message I did say I can still hear the audio but only by cranking the speakers way up. Only a reboot seems to resolve this problem. Since I use this card for windows sounds and software speech it presents a problem when doing a radio broadcast because it's like I'm losing speech even though I'm not. Since I don't have a braille display I'm left in the water with no capabilities of rowing out unless I go in with sndvol32 and slide the other sound card's master volume to zero then I can crank up the speakers on the first card to hear my speech. Let me tell you. It's quite annoying. I'm off this week to get a regular pci card and will use it instead for my primary windows sounds. Any recommendations? Re: Batch processing problems in goldwave.
-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE- Hash: SHA1 Hi. Since you are using mp3 files for your input and output by default Goldwave may be set to not overwrite existing files. You can do one of two things. 1. Put the output files in a different location than the originals. or 2. Set the radio button to overwrite the original files. This should work although I personally would put them in a different directory in case something goes wrong you still have the originals. Anders Holmberg said the following on Tue, Mar 28, 2006 at 02:18:01PM +0200: Hello! I am trying to change volume to a couple of mp3 files in goldwave. Hi Fazil Yes it will. If you make a cd using .wav files, and you make sure that you produce an audio cd, not a data cd, but an audioCD, you will be just fine. Hi, Did you do ctrl-z for un do before saving? At 11:33 AM 3/28/2006 +0100, you wrote: Hi all, hoping someone can help me out with this rather urgent problem I've got. Re: Should It Play An Audio CD?
Thanks much, Chris, I got another question. When I create an audio-cd, not a data cd,ok, so when I create an audio-cd out of all the *.wav files, using my Roxio5.30, in the recording dialog, there are set of radio-buttons regarding the finalization of the cd and the finalization of the cession. In order to play that cd in the home-stereo, in the car and on a portable regular cd-player, should I finalize both, the cd and the cession? Thanks! Re: Media Player: Ripping/Burning
I have done a few burns using Windows Media--so far, all successfully thankfully. 1. I rip the songs I want from a CD using CDEX. IMPORTANT: F-8 rips in .wav format which is what you likely want for a CD. Once I have burned the CD, I delete the .wav file as it takes up mega space on the hard drive. 2. I move these songs to a designated folder (may not be necessary but I want to be sure of what I am burning). 3. I find my designated folder and open it with the enter key. I then select the songs in the folder with Control-A and these will be the songs for my burn list. 4. Press your applications key and arrow down to add to burn list. 6. Tab until you hear a burn command. Press enter here.(this is usually several tabs along). 7. Tab again and there is another tab that says something about burning or it might refer to the letter of the drive you are burning with. Press enter here. I have found that sometimes the burn starts immediately and other times the burn may not begin for 2 minutes or more. Just today it appeared that nothing was happening so I tried to eject the CD and got a message saying that a CD could not be ejected while Windows was burning. I pressed enter on the burn command that said something about my E drive and eventually, the burn began. I am not sure if there is something visually showing on screen or whether the program is just quirky. 8. There is another box a tab or 2 along after the burn commands where you can review your burning speed. Sorry, don't remember what it is called but it is quite obvious it is the settings tab--in fact, that may be what it is called. Press alt-enter on this tab to open its properties and the second tab brings you to the combo box for burning speeds. When my last burn today failed to work I lowered the burn speed to 32 X and waited about 3 minutes and was just about to give up when the drive began moving and once the process finished--about another 3 minutes, I had a perfect cd copy with all the songs, no skips and yes, it even played on a regular CD player. I apologize if I have left out any specifics--I usually just do this stuff till it works and I must say that I often forget what it was that worked and what it was that didn't! I'm sure that with sight this stuff is a breeze but with speech it is usually hit and guess--at least for the first few times.- Original Message - From: Bobcat [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: PC audio discussion list.
