As a blind person, I see no reason to pay more. If you have sighted people in your house of course, there are advantages as he pointed out. Amazon prime day is coming up. I don't know what country you are in. But if you are one that gets that primed day thing, you might wait and see what specials they will be having, especially if you're interested in the Fire TV. In the past, I could stop the program, do something else on the phone and then return to boice dream. The program would return me to the exact place where I left off. Lately, when reading an audio book consisting of multiple mp3 files, it will return me to the beginning of the file I was busy with and not to the exact place in the fiole where I stopped. I know it can be remedied by inserting a bookmark where you sstoppped each time. The point though is that in the past it was not necessary. Has anyone found this lately with voicedream? Regards André

Google Chrome and Google home page woes
Hi all, I thought I would try to make sense of Google Chrome using WE 7.2 on my XP machine. Boy! Was I wrong! Does anyone know how to get rid of Google Chrome off of my computer? Add Remove doesn't do it either. Then I thought to get on the web and look for info on how to uninstall Google Chrome. But, when I invoked IE, I was faced with a Google Accessibility Documentation page with which I am unable to search or anything! Furthermore, I am not able to get rid of or change the IE home page to my personal prefered home page. I tried getting rid of it by choosing blank page in Tools, Internet Options but no go with that either. I even tried invoking my personal home page from the run dialog box which came up just fine. But when I tried to choose that page by selecting, use current under Tools and internet options, the very next time I went into IE, the same old useless google accessibility documentation page came up again. I'm about ready to go sky diving without a parashoot! Please don't confuse the very useful google accessibility search page we all have come to know and love, with this useless google accessibility documentation page. If you are able to help me to first get rid of google chrome, please, please do so help me. I would be grateful to be able to use the internet with some sence of normalcy once again. I'm looking to do some internet radio broadcasting and, having found that broadcasting directly through my computer or soundcard makes my microphone sound horrible (muffled, buzzing noise behind vocals, popping when turned on/off, etc), I'm looking for a suitable and accessible 4-channel mixer which I can use to channel my soundcard and microphone. I'd also like to have the option of plugging headphones into it so that I can hear the results of my work as it happens, and features such as being able to use more than one channel at once (such as talking over the start/end of a track) are also very important. Unfortunately I'm very short of space, so I need something which has good quality output but which is as compact as possible. I know this is quite a specific set of requirements, but if anyone knows of such a model which is accessible for use by someone with total sight loss (no issues with seeing lights showing feedback etc), I'd be grateful to hear details. I'd also appreciate advice on any adaptors which I might need to help me plug 3.5 mm jacks and an XLR microphone into such a machine, as this is my first time of exploring this area of production. Re: trouble splitting files with mp3 direct cut
Hi Joanne, Did you ever get an answer for your questions below? I'm trying to create tracks in single hour long MP3 audio files so as to make it easier for the listner to jump around by tracks within the file. I'm also having trouble figuring out how to use and adjust pause detection. Please let me know what you have learned about this. Thanks, Johnny At 08:46 AM 7/17/2010, you wrote: I am trying to split a huge file with several TV episodes on it. I'm obviously not figuring out the pause detection thing right, because no matter how I adjust the numbers in the list of options I may get anywhere from 2 to 15 pauses. Is there a better program that can detect a longer pause, such as when a show ends, and just cut the episodes into parts? Or does MP# Direct Cut have a feature I'm unaware of? How do all of you split large files and make them start and end episodes so well? Thanks. Kind of frustrated. Re: Digital recording software
Hi Rob and list, Thanks to everyone who offered me advice. I have since downloaded GoldWave's latest version. I am also looking at their Multiquence program. Is it accessible to WE users? Johnny At 11:15 PM 5/16/2010, you wrote: Good evening Johnny and List. I commend you to try Goldwave as a sound recorder and editing package. The program is downloadable as a demo from http://www.goldwave.com/ This will enable you to experiment pretty thoroughly with the software before you make a decision as to whether to buy it. It will give you about 3 thousand keystrokes before you are prompted to buy the licensed copy or to uninstall the demo version. When I purchased Goldwave several months ago I paid $49 US which I regard as a very good value for its abundance of sound editing and reprocessing features. As for the learning curve, I had no prior experience in producing digital audio before acquiring and learning Goldwave which is very speech friendly with JAWS. For even better JAWS interface I also commend you to get and install the Goldwave JAWS scripts developed by Jim Grimsby. They are free and easily installed by simply copying the 18 files into the JAWS settings folder. The scripts come in a zip file. The Lame MP3 encoder is also available on the Goldwave web site and will be needed if you want to record in or change your sampling rate to 44.1 KHz, the sampling rate required to enable production of an audio CD if you wish to do this. Lastly, I have experienced the Goldwave help file to be very easily navigable and easy to use as a learning resource. If you use other screen readers such as Window-Eyes or SAM or NVDA I must defer to those experienced users. Have fun with the brave world of audio production, whatever audio package you decide to get. This looks great and the price is nice! In addition to the number of minutes, you can now specify the number of seconds when splitting a file based on time. The batch processing feature has been extended as follows: Presets for your batch processing parameters can be saved and later reused. Pause reduction is supported. Batch processing of a folder or a list of files can be launched through the command line. Improved time calculation during the background recording of VBR MP3 streams. Other minor enhancements. Support for multiple monitors. You can do the following: Specify the monitor to be used when playing video in full-screen mode. Specify the monitor from which a window or region will be captured. Ability to perform background recording of FLV streams transmitted using HTTP. This allows you, for example, to background record video from YouTube. Re: MP3 help needed
Hi DJ, Thanks for the great suggestion below. It looks like a really nice program and it looks like it will work well with Window-Eyes alright. However, I am wondering if you can at least point me in the right direction in learning the Wave Pad program. I am given the responsibility of producing multiple copies of sermons done in an mp3 format. The reason why I am interested in working with a program like Wave Pad is that there are no track markers on any of the original sermon CDs. I would like to be able to place track markers say every5 minutes for convenient skip points for our members. That's about all I need to be able to do right now. In the future, I want to produce my own radio broadcast ready sermon CDs. But that's another subject for sometime later on this summer. But for now, I could use your help in at least getting me started in the right direction in understanding Wave Pad fundamentals so I can better format these weekly sermons for our members. Even if you refered me to some beginners reading materials that would be great. The key word here is the word - beginning. grin BTW, all of the sermons are between 45 minutes and 1.5 hours in length. Again thanks for any help, Johnny At 07:21 PM 3/2/2010, you wrote: High Johnny, You can use Wave Pad to accomplish that task. Hope this helps. My best regards. It seems straightforward enough, but my computer isn't taking the final step of actually doing anything. I put the CD into the CD-ROM, then went to the convert menu, and, in the name of experimentation, have tried several of the choices there. Nothing seems to work. Any idea what step I am not taking, or mis-taking?
