Effects in sound forge studio 90

2009-09-01 Thread Paul Oeser
I've used sound forge with my previous computer; It came installed on
it. I've also downloaded sound forge studio 90. I really like sound
forge. What I've noticed about reverb and other effects is that they
usually occur in the center channel instead of the left or right
channels. Is there a way to make these effects better?

play list studio

2008-03-26 Thread Paul Oeser
It has taken a while but I'm considering station play list studio. I've
used play list creator before and have liked it. I think I've gone as far
as I can with ots DJ or currently OTS AV DJ.

I have a few questions about play list studio. How do you set it up to
stream audio? Is there any way to get it to automatically adjust the gain
on the mic? I also assume that you don't have to take the audio from the
sound card since it act like OTS DJ does when using the mic? I like the
way it mixes audio and the processing sounds good.

Re: HD radio

2008-01-11 Thread Paul Oeser
The prices have dropped quite a bit for that radio. A year ago they were
about $300. Now you can get one of their models for $120 on
amazon.com. The bad review for the HD radio I'm thinking of buying said
that you couldn't get HD on AM at night. Of course there is a reason for
that. The FCC won't let the stations run their IBOC's at night yet on
AM. Do all of them have earphone jacks?

Although it is a quirky device, I love my Boston Acoustics HD Receptor
Radio. To my ears, it even sounds better playing non-HD stations than other
tabletop-size radios I've heard. It's no longer available from the place
where I bought it, but my local Radio Shack now sells it. When I was there
last month, they were playing it to the entire store.

Paul, before you plunk down any money on an HD radio, check to see what
stations are playing in your area. you can find this out from the IBicquity
site. I haven't bought one yet because the Pittsburgh stations last time I
checked have a lousy selection of formats on HD radio. the AM band has only
one station broadcasting in HD. I think you are better off with satellite
radio.

Re: DJ Help Needed

2007-02-20 Thread Paul Oeser
Jana, There use to be a page on the ACB radio site that explains
most of this. It may still be there. If you are using the software
based synthesizer that comes with jaws you want to be able to talk
and have the music play at the same time because to do this would put
the speach from jaws over the air.

The cd wripper I use is called CDex. You can download it from the
JFW lite web site:
http://www.jfwlite.com. The ACB radio web site URL is:
http://www.acbradio.org. Hope this helps.

 options out
there for broadcasting, but if possible, I'd like to be able to use
 the same
set-up as the other DJ's, so that we're on the same page, so to speak.

We're using Winamp, along with ShoutCast, and we're currently
 broadcasting
on Live365. We use the IVocalize software, and we're broadcasting
 from a
virtual chat room. Basically, I need help from the ground up. For
 starters,
I just spent 2 hours in the radio room, trying to get both the
 music and the
microphone to play through my system. It seems that there's a plug-
 in that I
can get for Winamp, so that I can do this, but I have no idea where
 to go to
find it. If there isn't, is there a setting that I need to change
 to make
it work? Also, I'm using JFW 8, and while I'm managing to kind of use
IVocalize, I'm sure that there are scripts that I can get that will
 make it
work better... Does anyone know where I can find them?

Last question for now. Is the CD-ripper in Winamp accessible? I
 recently
purchased Winamp Pro, because among other things, I needed a faster
 program
for ripping CD's than the one I'm currently using. However, I
 haven't been
able to figure out how to get to the CD-ripper in Winamp.

I know that I have other questions, lots of them, but after
 spending all
this time trying to listen to everyone typing and/or talking to me

P.S. I have an Alva Braille display, and since I'm proficient with
 Braille,
I'm certainly open to suggestions for using it in this situation,
 so that I
don't have to use speech as much. I wish that JFW had a feature for
disabling speech while moving from one program to another. It would
 be good
if the option for muting the speech could remain on until JFW was
 re-started
or until a person wanted to toggle it back on, instead of having to
 disable
it again every time you Alt-tab between programs. Smile Thanks!

memory. which will give you about 250 songs give or take.

So how does this software work, do you actually install it on the ipod
  itself or what?
You install Anapod explorer on your computer, and then you use the
software
to transfer songs to your iPod via simple copy and paste operations just
like you would in windows explorer. It's very easy to use. The
software
has a lot of other features much too numerous to mention here. the best
thing you can do is just visit the website and read up on what it can
and
can't do. and that'll answer all the questions you have, and might
answer a
few you didn't know you were going to ask.

weather aloud problem

I've been using weather aloud since March. I purchased the program right

Re: XM PCR

2006-04-25 Thread Paul Oeser
One thing to consider before buying one is if you can activate it
now. This may not be a problem at aall but something worth checking
on. I enjoy mine. It is the best designed digital radio for us if
it is satellite or any other of digital radio. They won't make the
others where we can see what song is playing.

 Hello,

An acquaintance wishes to buy an XM PCR. If one finds one in good
working condition, what should he be willing to pay for it?

I had heard that immediately after the manufacturer
discontinued making them, their value on Ebay shot way up but
subsequently returned to more normal levels. So what is such a
receiver worth now in U.S. dollars?

 Thanks.

Re: Satellite Radio

2005-11-07 Thread Paul Oeser
If you want everything you mentioned you'd better buy both
services. Sirrius has the NFL and some college football with the
south eastern conference. XM has MLB plus big 10, acc and pac 10 in
college football. Both have the NHL untill 2007 when it becomes
exclusive to xm.

XM now has exclusive rights to Air America Radio while both carry the
Ed Schultz show. Both services have the Dave Ramsey show. I'm not
sure who has the exclusive rights to what show in conservative talk.

Hi. If you really are leaning toward Sirius, wait for the S50 to be
   released sometime soon.
Not sure of the accessibility of the thing, but the word is that
 it's
supposed to allow you to record up to 50 hours of content. To
 me, XM radio
is a much better service, but it's all in what you want.
If you like Major League Baseball, Opie and Anthony and a wide
 selection of
music and talk, xm is your service. If you like the NFL and more
 of the
popular tunes, and Howard Stern coming in January, then you want
 Sirius.

 There's no software involved. Just plug the IMic into a USB port;
 plug the
output of your stereo's amplifier into the IMic's in-jack; and make
 sure
whatever digitizing software you're using (I use goldwave.) is
 taking its
input from the IMic. (There is a selector switch on the IMic, which is
supposed to be for selecting between its input and output circuits.
 But I've
never figured out its actual function. Both input and output

 And, once
you're wired up correctly, you should be good to go!

 Good luck!

 Hello,

I have quite a lot of recordings on cassette tape which I would
like to transfer to my PC. I have an on-board sound card, and the
recordings I have made so far have not been of particularly good
 quality.

I have come across a few references to the Griffin iMic, which is a
USB device which is supposed to allow much higher quality
recordings, and would be interested to know if anyone ,as actually
used one of these and whether it works well. Does it come with its
own software, and if so, is this easy to use with Jaws.
 Thanks,.

 Caroline.?

Re: Griffin iMic

2005-11-02 Thread Paul Oeser
Don't exactly remember; But if you plug in a mic and flip the
switch back and forth you can tell which is which. The position
where the mic is loudest is the position for the mic.

Ah! Thanks for clearing up that mystery. Now, can you tell me which
 position
is which? For example, if the switch is moved to the position
 closer to the
input jack, is that the line-in or mic-in setting?

 Thanks.

The switch on the iMic toggles between mic and line recording.

 Caroline,

I bought a Griffin IMic, several months ago, for precisely the same
 project
you have in mind, digitizing my cassette collection. The iMic gave
 excellent
results! and, after completing that project, I still use it as my
 secondary
sound card, for playing the output of Winamp and Windows Media Player
through my stereo. I recommend it VERY highly.

 There's no software involved. Just plug the IMic into a USB port;
 plug the
output of your stereo's amplifier into the IMic's in-jack; and make
 sure
whatever digitizing software you're using (I use goldwave.) is
 taking its
input from the IMic. (There is a selector switch on the IMic,
 which is
supposed to be for selecting between its input and output circuits.
 But I've
never figured out its actual function. Both input and output
 through the
IMic work perfectly well *regardless* of which setting I select.)
 And, once
you're wired up correctly, you should be good to go!

 Good luck!

 Blessed Be,

 Dana

Re: I-pods

2005-10-22 Thread Paul Oeser
The only iPod I've used is the iPod Shuffle. It is verry
easy to use. It only has 2 buttons. The round button on top
controls the volume, going between tracks and play and stop. On the
back is a switch with 3 positions: off, shuffle and standard play.

I use it for my books I download from audible. The only problem is
that mine doesn't save the place when I stop playing the program.
When I resume the program it is usually 15 to 20 minutes ahead of
where I stopped it. I usually listen to the next 20 minutes on my
computer between the time I stop and resume playing the program on
the iPod Shuffle.

 Hi,

I am thinking about joining the rest of the planet and buying an I-

For example: when you restart an I-pod, does it resume where you
left off? How low of a bitrate can it play? What about navigation
 for a blind person?

Re: Putting Music in a Blog

2005-10-01 Thread Paul Oeser
I use http://www.audioblog.com. You create an account and upload your
music to audioblog. It links to your other blog which in my case is
livejournal.com. When I publish audio to audio blog it creates a link in
live journal so people can read your entry and listen to the audio you have
published.

It costs about $5 a month. There is another one that is free but you can
only do a phone blog with the free one.

The subject line says it all. How do people attach music to their
blogs? I'm an easyjournal user, but surely the principle must be the
same whatever blog/site you have. Does one have to be an html expert
to accomplish this?
Thanks,
Brad
