Hi Does anyone have the latest winamp? How do i find it? I had it but somehow don't have the online services like shoutcast any longer. Any help would be appreciated. I have tried that program out now, it's quite Ok and what I love of this program, is that you can even tagg your files so that you can play them on the radio with good title streaming. one thing I don't understand is this, In the mp3 settings, I saw something called Misc CRC checkbox, what is that?, another thing I miss is that joint stereo format of stereo, cause I have compared the Switch sound converter with the meow mmsound converter. and I think the encoder in switch sounds a little bit better than the meow programs encoder, but I like the program, and I will work with it more when I get time to it. another thing I'd like to know is this, I have seen some buttons which weren't labled at all, even though I did the auto graphic labeling, smile. I have only done one, two or three at a time. There is a flag which is supposed to give you the option to have them deleted from there once they have been converted, but it doesn't appear to work in the latest version of CDEX. There is a checkbox to look in subfolders, so if you create a folder under CDEX and put all of the MP3 files there, they won't get mixed up with the other CDEX files. I just tried this and it worked, and didn't try to convert anything it shouldn't have. Barry, Thanks. I just converted half a dozen files successfully. Or I think. I'll have to try to play them on my Sansa. The subfolder seems a good idea to keep things clean. But when they're converted, they go to my documents/my music/mp3 and have to be copies to my Sansa from there. That works. Joel, I think this will do what you want: Go to the Easy CDDA Extractor File Converter. For the format of your output file choose WAV (standard). When this format is selected, The bit rate selection drop-down will include several mono options. If you need some other format for your player to recognize the file, I suppose you can reconvert it, and, since the source file will now be mono, so will the second output file. Hope that works. Hello Joel, I could be a little off here, but converting the file to *.wav is the only way you'll be able to change the phonics of the file from stereo to mono. But like I said, you can convert the files back to *.mp3. But only, the new *.mp3 files will be in mono rather then stereo. The files that are on store bought CD's, are*.cda. Hope this helps. Hi Joel, if you have GoldWave here is what you need to do Open your stereo file and hit ctrl+A to select the whole track. Go to the effect menu and choose stereo submenu. From there, go to the channel mixer... and hit enter. Use the arrows to find monomix. Hit enter and Wayt for the process to be finisced. Now you can save it as an mp3 again. Joel, .wav files are large. But they're not THAT large. I'm sure you can fit, at least, an album or two's worth of tracks on a 2Gb player. I guess it all depends on how much material you want to keep on the player, at any given time. and, as I suggested, if you do run into space problems, you can always convert the mono wav files back into mp3s. All you have to do is, convert the MP3 files to *.wav. It will give you some options to choose from. Just select the one that suits you best. Then after that, just click the convert button, and you're all sat! But if you need to convert the files back to *.mp3, just use Switch to do it. You can use CDEX to convert a stereo MP3 file to a mono MP3 file and the program is free. In the configuration encoder settings, choose mono and the bitrate you want, then from the convert menu choose re-encode compressed audio file.
