i recently ran into a bug when i used the "coll" object from the BETA
cyclone library.
simply put: when i create a coll object and quit PD, it throws a
Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Error (see image).

i would like to prevent Pd from leaving 'traces' other then what is done
by my patch.
i guess that if the preferences are not changed nothing will be written
about that.

I think I'd suggest not including the port-listneing part in the extern,
but only the gui-opening-and-closing functions. You can get to it from
outside Pd by setting up a netreceive object (or even responding to a
special hand-clap).
