now a separate I/O controller chip so I *hope* real-time USB audio will be

Yup, and we already have such checks for the ttk stuff at the top of
pd-gui.tcl. If tabs aren’t supported, then dialogs and their related menu items
should be added, otherwise the single menu item for the preferences.

If you want debugging symbols, yes. Fortunately it is relative easy to compile
Pd so I don't consider it "long-winded." In fact, we have spent quite a bit of
time to make this both possible *and* relative
hor for PdParty which is iOS only.
PdDroidParty is on Android and was my direct inspiration. You may be thinking
of Chris McCormick, the original author of DroidParty. I recognize the naming
confusion, but PdIOSParty or PdAppleParty made little sense at the time.

running the 0.53-test2 macOS build, I noticed that opening
doc/7.stuff/tools/sizingtest.pd from the Help Browser opens the patch with the
scrollbars showing, even though there should be enough whitespace around all
borders.
