the Sigma is soft and has some falloff until you stop down quite a bit. figure it is an f11 or f13 lens if you want decent quality. even then, it's not the sharpest lens in the world. i expect that the DA 14 will be better, but they aren't easily obtainable in the US yet Herb... - Original

Sure, you could buy another screwmount film body when the Ks came out, but not a Pentax That's why I switched to Fuji when I needed a new camera in 78. And that's why Pentax lost a lot of their loyal Spotmatic users. If they had started with a bayonet mount early on, they would have been okay.

I will restrain myself from joining the comments on Cotty--for a few lines, anyway. Herb got it right. The Sigma 12-24 is reputed to be soft. The initial reports of the DA 14 are that it is very good even at f2.8. The only reason to get the Sigma would be if you also want a lens for 35 mm.

I haven´t tried the 12-24, only the 14mm, but from what I have heard it is beat by the DA 14 in price, weight, size, sharpness, maximum aperture and light fall off. The only reasons for buying the Sigma is that you really want a zoom, or need full frame. DagT På 5. sep. 2004 kl. 08.01 skrev
