If I understand you right, what you're asking is whether it is possible to train a sensor's dynamic range to separate the midtones better in low-contrast scenes? That's an interesting question. I would guess that the CCD/CMOS assembly is hard-wired to specific degrees of separation between tones.

I didn't get this with my first film but second and third films have traces on them after drying. Seems like limestone (got the word translated from French so it maybe wrong) and/or wetting agent. Now, I use simple dishwashing product as wetting agent. Maybe this is the culprit? Or maybe not

Thanks, Bob. I'll probably limited to the 50mm for a while. I considered using my 2X TC, but the past few times I've used it, I had trouble getting it to release from the camera body and don't want to risk putting it on there and ending up damaging the camera trying to get it off there.

After washing, give the film a short soak in Kodak Photoflo. Just follow the directions on the bottle. Then gently squeegee the film between your second and third fingers, wiping it from top to bottom as it's hanging. If you have rough skin, skip this part. Don't use a commercial film squeegee.
