There's something weird, however, about the

I use 8 external spinny drives but I usually have only four or five active. Two
are for current photos. The others are archives. Critical current work is also
backed up on iCloud and/or Dropbox. SSDs are growing more affordable
So I think my next two photo drives will be of that ilk,
