Apart from their  technical quality I think Leica's have compact elegant designs and some people may buy it as fashion gadgets. I don't expect DSLR's can find that niche in current markets accordingly. In my opinion it is important for R/P to hold on to their line of very versatile rugged APS-C

Probably not, as there was a product that did that with a video camera and tilting display that attached to the viewfinder on SLRs and DSLRs what about 10-15 years ago.  It was the Z(something).  I don't think they're still available, or if they are, they're a more niche product than most.
