I am not totally sure but I believe a hot pixel will render white and a dead
pixel will render black.
As far as dust, most dust spots will cover more than one pixel and tend to
show as oof blobs, sometimes quite large. That is where the blower bulbs are
really handy.

Thanks Godders. Some of the folks in our camera club insist that you have to
use profiles to get a good print. When I show them my results, they just
claim I am lucky!
I have never done any type of production printing. I think if I had the need
to, I would get a lab to print to the RA4 paper and
I got a question.
I tend to use the Ilford papers and the Costco Glossy 95% of the time, but
have used others like the Museo. I have seldom had a problem getting a good
print, but I always use the settings to make the software set the print
requirements, not the printer, other than setting a pap

I printed it out, cut it out, and assembled. My daughter, a kindergarten
teacher, asked me what I was doing. I replied that I was working on Pentax
Paper Doll cutouts. So, she proceeds to show me Canon Paper doll cutouts on
the web! But these really were paper dolls.

I definately like the origional color the best, followed by the high
contrast B&W. I think I would like a B&W with somewhat cooler tones than the
Platinium rendition however. I have never liked Warmtone B&W except in
people pics.

Actually a Himalayan, and I wish she would sit in our laps. She likes to be

Anyone try the sharpening technique of Benjamin Kanarek on the Pentax Life
website?
I tried it on a few shots and just the two stage unsharp mask technique
looked pretty good. The additional layers merge was hit or miss depending on
the subject.

Thanks Godfrey for getting back to me. I made a quick try with a couple of
your ideas, letting Lightroom run the printer and letting the printer do
it's thing. Either way the print is the same. Just to be sure I printed with
Elements and the same way I always do. The print with Elements is like
I downloaded Adobe Lightroom yesterday because lots of you are talking
positive things about it. The use seems to be pretty straightforward and I
am able to import shots, manipulate as desired, and on screen the image
looks fine. These are all images that I have previously worked in PS
Elements
I found te discussion on the comparisons among various camera viewfinders
interesting. It brougt back memories of past cameras :-)
As a recent buyer of the K10 and still having the istDL, I honestly have not
paid a lot of attention between the two viewfinders. This PM I took both out

Barry, I use PhotoShop Elements 5.0 and am very happy with it. I have been
using the Elements versions since inception.
I seldom shoot RAW, but I have my K10 set to do Raw as DNG's. Elements
supports Adobe Camera Raw and the DNG files. They may also support the
Pentax PEF's by now, but I haven't

I would have to second the comment others have made as to an Epson R220. It
is a very fine printer, can be found for way under 100.00, and it really
does a great job, B&W and color.
Epson has also just come out with a newer series of smaller printer with the
latest ink technology tha

Santa gave me a 50~200 Pentax Zoom.
I really like both. I wasn't sure PSE 5 had enough "extras" to make the

It is the 500 DG-ST, the "basic" version. I have been pretty happy with it
since it puts out a lot more light than the built in flash. The folks in New

BTW, I got my Sigma flash back from Sigma for repairs/update. It now works
with the K10D for regular ttl flash, but not with the second curtain.
However, I don't think this cheaper model had that in the inventory from the

I was trying out the slow sync(second curtain) flash last evening with the
K10D. I don't think it is working properly. When the shutter speed is around
1 sec so you can see what is going on, the flash discharged when the shutter
is first tripped, then is discharged a second time with the trailin

This all brings to rememberance a discussion at the PMA convention in
Orlando back in Feb. It all started when I asked a Tokina rep why they did

Thanks Daniel. It looks real good from the photo's they post. I'm thinking
of getting the clear one as it will have less light loss.
Right now my Sigma flash is back at Sigma for redo of whatever to make it
work with the K10. When it gets back I will try the one idea with the bubble

BTW, have you, or any others with the K10, changed the defaults on the front
and rear dials?
I changed mine to +/- control on the front dial and the shift mode on the
rear one. I also notice that the front dial allows +/- control of the flash
when it
