Sorry to hear that, you could always try sending it off the Kirk at
http://pentaxs.com/ for a repair estimate. He was able to bring my A
24mm f2.8 back from the dead. It's probably not worth it for a lens
that you can sometimes pick up for as little as $50.00 though.

Thanks, P.J.
I'm sure it would cost more to repair than to replace given the damage.
The focus is completely locked up on it -- I can't get it to even budge.
And there's a severe dent in the lens barrel at the filter threads.
She's absolute toast, I'm afraid.

Sorry to hear about your equipment injury! Hang tough. Time will ease the
grief; There's always a new lens around the bend to fondle! :-) Seriously, I
know what you mean. I haven't repaired my FA 50 f 1.4 yet, and my slump

Thanks, Christine.
The eminently beneficent John Francis has ridden to my rescue until I
can get my hands on my own copy. And there is some solace to be found in
knowing I didn't lose something quite so difficult to replace as the FA

An interesting shot, nicely rendered. Sorry to hear about your unfortunate
drop. Is the camera okay? That lens can be replaced for a minimal amount of
money.

Thanks, Paul.
The camera seems fine, as best I can tell. It still focuses and there
doesn't appear to have been any impact anywhere but the lens itself.
Thankfully, I still have my K 50/1.4 and M 50/2 -- but I sure did like
those A contacts and not having to use the green button to stop down
Thank you, Dave.
It ain't the end of the world, but at the moment, I kind of wish it was.

It does come as a blow.
All I can do at this point is get to work on learning my metering with
the K 50/1.4 and M 50/2. Both are fine lenses, but I'm just sickened
about that losing that lens. It really -- *literally* -- was a joy to
shoot with.

Walt, I know how you feel. I have had something like that to me a
couple of times. Once when I got hit on the sideline of the
Philadelphia Eagles while shooting the game for work and the other
time at a pro basketball game, I got hit by a very big player. Both
times I sent the glass back to
Walt,
Did you have a metal lens hood on? Metal, not plastic or rubber.
I put an A50/1.4 on the sidewalk in Washington, DC like that.
The hood died, but the lens and camera survived.

Hi Bob,
No, I didn't have a hood on it, unfortunately. That's something I'll be
looking into when I finally replace it, though.

Thanks, Joe.
At least I didn't have a boatload of money in my lens, I guess.
It's going to be a little while before I can replace it, but I'll just
have to make do with my K 50/1.4 in the meantime -- which I do like a
lot. So, all isn't lost. :-)
