Wonderful! I like the composition, the patterns and the textures portrayed, plus the pleasing colors. Is this a dead or dying branch? The Red Cedars I have seen, including the ones on my property, have reddish-brown bark, but green needles. In any event, this one is most pleasing in its tone.

The thermometer hit 50 degrees F this afternoon, about 70 degrees warmer than it was two days ago, so I spent some time in the yard shooting birds. I haven’t been out there recently, so they were a bit shy and most stayed hidden. But I got this red-bellied woodpecker high up in a spruce tree.

From this angle, one can see where he gets his name. He was high up in a tree, in shadow with bright highlights behind. I wasn’t expecting much, but I”m quite pleased with the result. K-1 with D FA 150-450. DA 1.4X Converter, f8, 1/640th, 630mm, ISO 8000.
