Interested in purchasing an Optio S also. I've heard

higher MP count are the main differences between the
two and which one would you recommend? For existing
Optio S owners, how long is the battery life? Can you
shoot a long time between charges?

On my Optio 550, I use the viewfinder most of the time. But it's not good for

I have the Optio 230, and I always turn off the LCD to save batteries. I
only use it to compose close up shots because the viewfinder is
inaccurate in those cases.
I find that the 230 makes pretty good macro shots, but the flash is
useless beyond 6 or 7 feet.

Jan,
If you buy in the USA, you have to ad sales tax, about 6%, if you order
out of state you don't but you have to pay for the shipping. When you
have it sent to the NL you have to pay duties, unless you can avoid it
in a smart way. Very often it still pays to buy it in the USA.
