Vivitar quality is all over the place. Different companies have made the
lenses under the Vivitar name, and unless you know who made which lens,
you'd only be guessing at what to expect. The Series 1 lenses have an

I had a Vivitar 24/2.8 once. It was about 10 years ago and I didn't have
a Pentax 24 for comparison so I can't really tell you how it rates on
that basis.

companies.

Couldn't tell you how it compared, but I had a Vivitar VMC 24mm 2.8
Vivitar manual focus lens. I bought it new maybe 11 years ago. It
performed pretty well: good contrast
Thanks everybody for all the comments. I do have the K24/3.5, which is
excellent, so I was actually asking about the Vivitar for someone
else. I think passing on this one might be a good idea--worth waiting
for a nice SMC one.
