And you base this prediction on what? Based on the fact that Pentax has 7 film bodies in production based on two chassis, and, well we have Pål's word for the fact that Pentax will be cutting the film camera line back to 3 models. Why wouldn't they make at least 3 different Digital models. I

Ken (and all), Thanks for the observations. I've been to Japan a few times on business. I've noticed a few things in wandering around Akihabara stores and, say, Yodobashi Camera near Shinjuku station. One is that Japanese products like laptops, mobile phones, cameras, etc., tend towards the

I think the Pentax smaller size may well appeal to the PS crowd if they can make them auto and light enough. The ZX line seems to have accomplished this. For just everyday beating around I like to carry either my ZX-M or even a PZ-10 with a small light beater lens because of their small size,

So the trick for Pentax consumers is to get a DSLR with first-rate AF. Pentax can make such a camera; the question is - will they do it. If they install a second-tier AF in the *istD by some misguided attempt at providing themselves an upgrade path, it will only hurt sales. From what I can see,

There was discussion of that point here a few years ago. If I recall correctly, Pentax cares mainly about the home market. Anything sold elsewhere is just gravy. I assume this is why we can't get black limiteds in the U.S. Joe
