Optios 220 an 330GS has different macro mode. They can be focused as close
as 10 cm in ANY zoom position.

A range of six to 18 inches for the macro focus range isn't bad. I don't
know the effective ratio but you can fill the image with a flower easily.

A friend of mine has that lens in Canon mount. It is sharpest near
50mm and so-so through the rest of the range. Contrast is a little
flat and most of his pictures don't have the punch that he wants. It
does focus close and is cheap (both price and build quality). Recently
he bought a 50mm
Pentax make an FA 50mm f/2.8 lens that focuses down to 7 5/8" in macro mode.
Is that close enough?
With FA capabilities, it could be used with many of their later
reputedly easy-to-use camera bodies.
