Well not sure it has anything to do with Win/Linux or whatever OS you like, IMO.

Folks,
I just tried a supposedly problematic, but lighting fast, TwinMOS card
on the card reader in the office. No error messages whatsoever. It
just works. My card reader at home is made by SanDisk and I bought it
couple of years ago. Could it be that new cards are too fast or
otherwise somehow
Yes ...

otherwise somehow incompatible with the reader?

Yes it is possible.
My reader (which is OEM and not a good Sandisk) can read most cards
but recent ones won't do it. My Ultra2+ 1GB will not be read in that
reader although it wil read in my Thinkpad but slowly as hell (the
integrated readers in laptops are always slow).

Well,
I've just returned the cards and my credit card was fully refunded.
Now I am left again with that TwinMOS card that seems to work for now.
I will probably keep the list posted because I find it rather amusing
although rather frustrating as well.

Hi!
When I bought my K10D I also bought a TwinMOS 1GB 150x memory card. The
first one broke (camera would display memory card error message) after
about 250 images. I have replaced this card with another one of the same
kind.
Now I am getting very strange messages. They appeared just before

Cotty, this is very unusual to me approach, but I may have to adopt it.
Boris, this may not help you, but as a matter of course, I always let
the camera format the card and never the computer. I treat it as though

You might have a POS card. You may want to stick with more mainstream
cards, like SanDisk, Kingston, Lexar, Transcend However, why not
borrow and try to use some other cards before getting any more nervous.
See how they work in your camera, card reader, and with your computer.

I have had some
problems before adopting this protocol by trying to wipe a card by using

Well, this kind of idea did not occur to me ;-).
You're probably right. I shall be sure to replace it with a card of
different brand next time I have to pay visit to a shop that sold it to me.
