Vulcans and other planes used to practice low-level flying over the Scout camp I went to as a child. It became commonplace during the week for the crews to wave back to us as they went past - I am sure some of them came round for a second go. The lowest flyers of all were the RNAS Buccaneers.

There have been some problems with manufacturing defects. I've only heard one report of problems with infinity focus, and that my have been camera related. The most common defect is an uneven focus plane. That's easily tested for and recognized. I think that Pentax has probably resolved
