Re: Ricoh 12 days of Christmas Disappointment

2013-12-21 Thread John

Could be that if they ship the *one* that's in stock they won't have it
in stock anymore, so they're holding on to it for now.

More like (based on past dealings with BH), they had half a dozen on
hand got a dozen orders. They shipped the ones they had first come,
first served they'll fill the rest of orders as soon as they're
resupplied.

Classic Pentax problem. They build good stuff, but underestimate the demand and
don't preload the supply chain adequately before product release.

All things considered, I find this preferable considering that they could be
building bad stuff that was easy to obtain because of low demand.
But it is frustrating!

Re: Ricoh 12 days of Christmas Disappointment

2013-12-20 Thread Stan Halpin
I bought a WG-III GPS camera from Pentax early in the 12 days. Received it
within 3-4 days. But that is an old camera that they may well be phasing out.
I think the Ricoh marketing (website managers) and inventory/distribution
people must not talk to one another. And/or they (Ricoh) have a totally
inadequate model of the expected supply/demand curves as they are affected by
variations in price points. BH on the other hand usually has a better grasp of
all of that.
