enough and the engines are distinct.

I have the Sigma 70-300 /4-5.6 APO DG, I like its sharpness and I made
some very nice macro's with it (it has a macro switch for 200-300mm) It
is bulky but supprisingly light weight.
Recently I did a comparitive test with some lenses a had that covered 200mm.

The A70~210 f/4 produces extremely sharp images and in macro mode, is amazing.
Would be difficult to beat!

People usually recommend Tamron's version of the same telezoom. But both
will be outperformed by Pentax's forthcoming DA 55-300 and DA* 60-250 F4.
The SMC F 70-210 is quite good, but I haven't tried
heard that rumor several times but never actually saw one that had that
softness at the long end. so it seems i gut lucky.
The Tamron AFAIK is a fine lense if you dont mind some CA's

I've owned several variations of the Sigma 70-300, DL, APO Macro, APO Macro
Super etc. all were soft at the edge of the frame at 300mm and CA is evident,
unlike some of the better APO (EX)lenses where CA's are negligible. IIRC the
F70-210 performed better at 200mm than any Sigma I tried
It's in excellent condition, comes with original front rear caps,
macro setting from 200-300mm, gets up to 1:2 magnification. $100USD +
Shipping.

easily wins out in contrast at the long end and also has more
pleasing OOF highlights. The ATX is most likely a bit sharper too.
