I was trying out the slow sync(second curtain) flash last evening with the
K10D. I don't think it is working properly. When the shutter speed is around
1 sec so you can see what is going on, the flash discharged when the shutter
is first tripped, then is discharged a second time with the

Santa gave me a 50~200 Pentax Zoom.
I really like both. I wasn't sure PSE 5 had enough extras to make the

I would have to second the comment others have made as to an Epson R220. It
is a very fine printer, can be found for way under 100.00, and it really
does a great job, BW and color.
Epson has also just come out with a newer series of smaller printer with the
latest ink technology

Yes it's a mirror lens. Does a decent job overall. A fair amount of
atmospheric haze to shoot through yesterday.
Apparantly you do not have any difficulty mounting a mirror lens on the
istD. I have seen on other groups where folks cannon mount the mirror lenses
on the DS, DL, K100, K10
Could you be a little more specific? Does the lens readily come off the
Holga? Did the lens need any spacing on the body cap to be in focus? I like
the effect very much. Great job!

Barry, I use PhotoShop Elements 5.0 and am very happy with it. I have been
using the Elements versions since inception.
I seldom shoot RAW, but I have my K10 set to do Raw as DNG's. Elements
supports Adobe Camera Raw and the DNG files. They may also support the
Pentax PEF's by now, but I

I found te discussion on the comparisons among various camera viewfinders
interesting. It brougt back memories of past cameras :-)
As a recent buyer of the K10 and still having the istDL, I honestly have not
paid a lot of attention between the two viewfinders. This PM I took both out
with zoom
I downloaded Adobe Lightroom yesterday because lots of you are talking
positive things about it. The use seems to be pretty straightforward and I
am able to import shots, manipulate as desired, and on screen the image
looks fine. These are all images that I have previously worked in PS

Thanks for the inputs.
I bought a Gateway laptop yesterday at a good price I believe. It is the
smaller 14 screen version, which I wanted. 1 gig ram, 120 gig HD, wireless,
etc. Today I picked up a wireless mouse and proceeded to take all the crap
off! I downloaded the patch and installed PSE
Other than firing the shutter what else can it do. Do you have total remote
access to the menus, can you switch modes(doubt that), etc?

I find it difficult to really determine how sharp the resolution/contrast is
on web images, especially at only 700 or 800 pixels. They all looked good
to me, but that doesn't necessarily put them in the same league as modern
DA* lenses. :-)

push up on the middle of the rgb curve would give you that. Would a tiny bit

Igor, the K10D can be set to either +/- .5 or .33 stop variations. So,
depending on how you set it up in the menu it would be controlled in that

Walt, here is a bit of anecdotal evidence to you. One of the guys in the
local camera club has exactly this combo - Bessa camera (one without
built-in viewfinder) and 15/4.5 lens. The lens is tiny, the outcome is
tremendous. It is very well corrected (very rectilinear) and it is very
sharp. Lovely

I miss RR tracks...we used to have tracks next to the house here. Now it is
a fitness trail. :-)

I don't have it anymore, but I once owned the Sigma 70~300 APO Super. The
latest Digital version is a little more expensive, but still very
affordable. I truly wonder what the diff is compared to the regular version.
Anyway, I found it to be a VG to E+ lens, especially when factoring in
price.
I downloaded the Beta some time back and basically liked what I saw.
However, I could never get it to print decent stuff. I wasn't willing to
chase driver problems, etc, so just deleted it and never looked backwards.
Now, with the positive reports I am reading everywhere, I am wondering if
Boris, the presentation is very good. I like.
The biggest reason I like these types of photographs from you and others
that do similar work is the insights I get into where you live and sometimes
how you live. I did not respond to the pics you posted on the auto show and
bikes, but I thoroughly
