Makes perfect sense to me. As I say in the article, several species have
learned symbols and are claimed to have culture. What we lack is a species
outside of Homo that has invented a symbol. But I will be happy if one is found.

who showed some video clips about the remarkable abilities of bonobos
who learned symbols to communicate. They also learned to understand
a subset of spoken English that includes

Since there have been no comments on my revised summary of what Peirce
wrote about Quasi-minds, I guess that we can move on to some related topics.
As Gary R. pointed out a while back, Peirce observed that there are
"various meanings of the word 'Mind,' Logical, Metaphysical, and
Good points. But both of you seem to move only within the thin air of
abstractions. There is a need for concrete demonstrations. Examples to
examine, for example.
