Ron has a good point. Most of the early electric motors that were used in
the first electrified phonographs were of the "universal" type. I seem to

I know enough about them to use one to shock you...
But seriously if you can send a good bunch of pictures some of us might be able
to help. Wires and the location where they connect, jacks or connectors,
switches, any labeling or badges, etc.

I have an opportunity to pick one of these up; it's a nice-looking machine, and
complete, though the spring(s) need to be replaced, and the mahogany finish is
all alligatored. Does anyone have any experience with these? Particularly,
I'd like to know a) how many springs the motor has; b) how
the same as Victrola springs so I think it is OK to replace just one if
needs be.

Hi,
I'm new to this list and I hope you can help me! I have what I think is a
Columbia Grafonola Favorite about 1911-1920 I think, but I am not sure. It
is missing a hand crank and the hard ware piece (attaches with two screws)
that encircles the whole where the crank goes. I think it is in
a Joyous Thanksgiving!

I haven't used the list for selling something before so please pardon the post.
I put up a Grafonola crate on ebay and it didn't sell. I would like to find a

I'm
tempted to take it apart just for the logo on the one
Shame you are not near NY State (Lewiston) as shipping some stuff to Finland

Hi. Thanks. The Lewiston connection is a freight forwarder who is
gathering a lot of stuff for us so I doubt they'd want to drive out
there. Is there anythng like a bus freight in that region where you
drop it off at a bus station's freight depot and they affordably

Does anyone have any information on the rather complicated
geared switch mechinism on an electric Columbia motor? I have a machine
where that mechinism seems to have frozen up which was keeping the motor
from running. I took it apart and stared at it quite a lot and cannot even
figure out how it
to
service these, but it would be a valuable addition to the phono literature.
