Marcus: could you specify the speed loss? If it's noticeable I would
rather suggest to either introduce a new function or another parameter
to getimagesize(), no matter what the default is (e.g. l

I think this is the best idea so far as it can be implemented (and released

to use "php".

That's not the issue. The point is that cgi-version will be renamed to
php-cgi, breaking a lot of installations => hundreds of new bogus bugs.
Again: nobody reads release-notes.

I'm running it on Compaq Tru64/Alpha and I'm absolutely not satisfied in how

On Solaris 7/UltraSparc everything is fine as far as I can see.

http://bugs.php.net/bug.php?id=18623 did'nt work with 4.2.0. The patch is
simple.
http://bugs.php.net/bug.php?id=17449 did'nt work with 4.2.0, until 4.1.2,
everything was fine.
These are the most disturbing bugs in my eyes and for my work.

not your problem but
think about this.
Another Idea may be a commercially supported PHP with guranteed response
times for bugs for professional users who have the money to pay for this. Of
course all these patches are managed via PHP CVS and so the "normal" users
get the patches 2-6 mon
sfying.
What does the license say about forking PHP?
