Looking at the slides for the talk, this release will have a beta
quality mobile profile and a mobile emulator. The final mobile profile
release is due in February. The emulator targets existing MIDP devices
for now (whatever that means; I don't do much with mobile).

Has anyone looked into tools that automatically convert from Java to
C#? I know not everything cleanly maps, but for the code that is
equivalent it would greatly enhance the maintainability of the .Net
version. One tool I'm aware of is Sharpen which is used to maintain
both Java and .Net versions

That's Java Micro Edition (J2ME) - runs on almost any cellphone
(excluding iPhone & Android) but there's no active software market
beyond gaming AFAIK.
