Yeah, the mapnik dir is hardcoded in the C code and needs to be changed. see the patch applied via sed here: https://trac.osgeo.org/osgeo/browser/livedvd/gisvm/tags/release_20120228_osgeolive_5_5_0/bin/install_gpsdrive.sh#L139 I am using Debian squeeze. I'll post a URL to modern binaries

Hi, GpsDrive has to be compiled with option(LIBGPS_OLD Build with old libgps version (2.90) OFF) in DefineOptions.cmake to use the newer Gpsd API (ie libgps19, not 20), but I suspect that the version currently in Debian is too old for that. (AFAICT this bug report was for Lenny) stay tuned
