[Pkg-kde-extras] Bug#554626: Dolphin doesn't have full integration with kdesvn
Package: kdesvn Version: 1.4.1-1 Severity: normal kdesvn doesn't add context menu item or the Subversion (kdesvn) group to Dolphin as it does in konqueror. In any folder, konqueror will have a "Checkout from a repository" menu item (as well as Export from a subversion repository), but Dolphin doesn't have it. Dolphin however has the expected actions when you're inside a checkout. I see no documentation on kdesvn's Dolphin integration, but I guess this is a bug. This is probably an upstream bug. Related bug: http://kdesvn.alwins-world.de/ticket/583 At the beginning I was under the impression kdesvn had no kdesvn integration, so I thought that ticket was about my problem. Maybe the reporter also didn't realize the integration partially existed. -- System Information: Debian Release: squeeze/sid APT prefers testing APT policy: (990, 'testing'), (500, 'unstable') Architecture: i386 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 2.6.30-2-amd64 (SMP w/2 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=fr_CA.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=fr_CA.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Versions of packages kdesvn depends on: ii kdebase-runtime 4:4.3.2-1runtime components from the offici ii kdelibs54:4.3.2-2core libraries for all KDE 4 appli ii kdesvn-kio-plugins 1.4.1-1 Subversion I/O slaves for KDE ii libapr1 1.3.8-1 The Apache Portable Runtime Librar ii libaprutil1 1.3.9+dfsg-3 The Apache Portable Runtime Utilit ii libc6 2.9-25 GNU C Library: Shared libraries ii libdb4.74.7.25-8 Berkeley v4.7 Database Libraries [ ii libgcc1 1:4.4.2-2GCC support library ii libqt4-dbus 4:4.5.3-4Qt 4 D-Bus module ii libqt4-network 4:4.5.3-4Qt 4 network module ii libqt4-sql 4:4.5.3-4Qt 4 SQL module ii libqt4-svg 4:4.5.3-4Qt 4 SVG module ii libqt4-xml 4:4.5.3-4Qt 4 XML module ii libqtcore4 4:4.5.3-4Qt 4 core module ii libqtgui4 4:4.5.3-4Qt 4 GUI module ii libstdc++6 4.4.2-2 The GNU Standard C++ Library v3 ii libsvn1 1.6.6dfsg-1 Shared libraries used by Subversio ii libsvnqt6 1.4.1-1 Qt wrapper library for Subversion Versions of packages kdesvn recommends: ii graphviz 2.20.2-4 rich set of graph drawing tools ii kompare 4:4.3.2-1 file difference viewer for KDE 4 Versions of packages kdesvn suggests: pn kdiff3 (no description available) pn khelpcenter(no description available) -- no debconf information ___ pkg-kde-extras mailing list pkg-kde-extras@lists.alioth.debian.org http://lists.alioth.debian.org/mailman/listinfo/pkg-kde-extras

[Pkg-kde-extras] Bug#691050: [k3b] sometimes complains about missing dependencies (cdrdao, dvd+rw-tools) when launched
Package: k3b Version: 2.0.2-6 Severity: minor I changed K3b's language from French to English and restarted it. It then strangely complained about cdrdao missing, even though it didn't do that in French: Unable to find cdrdao executable K3b uses cdrdao to actually write CDs. Solution: Install the cdrdao package. It does that every time it's launched in English, and now even in French. I tested that with another user and had the problem right away, in French, but with dvd+rw-tools instead. The problem disappeared when I forced the language to English. k3b depends on both dvd+rw-tools and cdrdao Setting severity as minor as I haven't determined that this message is a symptom of any actual failure of K3b to use its dependencies. In fact, if I go in the settings, K3b correctly shows cdrdao as installed. Oh wait, now it doesn't show... very odd behavior. After going in the configuration a few times, the issue for my main user changed to say dvd+rw-tools was missing, too. After some 20 test, k3b never complained about both dvd+rw-tools and cdrdao missing at the same time. --- System information. --- Architecture: i386 Kernel: Linux 3.2.0-3-amd64 Debian Release: wheezy/sid 990 testing security.debian.org 990 testing debian.mirror.iweb.ca 500 unstable debian.mirror.iweb.ca 1 experimental debian.mirror.iweb.ca --- Package information. --- Depends (Version) | Installed ===-+-== kde-runtime | 4:4.8.4-1 libc6 (>= 2.4) | 2.13-35 libgcc1 (>= 1:4.1.1) | 1:4.7.1-7 libk3b6 (= 2.0.2-6) | 2.0.2-6 libkcddb4 (>= 4:4.3.4) | 4:4.8.4-2 libkcmutils4 (>= 4:4.4.95) | 4:4.8.4-3 libkde3support4 (>= 4:4.4.4) | 4:4.8.4-3 libkdecore5 (>= 4:4.4.95) | 4:4.8.4-3 libkdeui5 (>= 4:4.5.85) | 4:4.8.4-3 libkfile4 (>= 4:4.7.0) | 4:4.8.4-3 libkio5 (>= 4:4.4.4) | 4:4.8.4-3 libknotifyconfig4 (>= 4:4.4.4) | 4:4.8.4-3 libqt4-qt3support (>= 4:4.5.3) | 4:4.8.2+dfsg-2 libqt4-xml (>= 4:4.5.3) | 4:4.8.2+dfsg-2 libqtcore4 (>= 4:4.8.0) | 4:4.8.2+dfsg-2 libqtgui4 (>= 4:4.8.0) | 4:4.8.2+dfsg-2 libqtwebkit4 (>= 2.1.0~2011week13) | 2.2.1-4+b1 libsolid4 (>= 4:4.4.4) | 4:4.8.4-3 libstdc++6 (>= 4.1.1) | 4.7.1-7 k3b-data (= 2.0.2-6) | 2.0.2-6 wodim | 9:1.1.11-2 OR cdrskin | cdparanoia | 3.10.2+debian-10.1 cdrdao | 1:1.2.3-0.3 genisoimage | 9:1.1.11-2 Recommends (Version) | Installed ==-+-=== libk3b6-extracodecs | 2.0.2-6 dvd+rw-tools | 7.1-10 vcdimager | Suggests (Version) | Installed ==-+-=== k3b-extrathemes | k3b-i18n | 2.0.2-6 normalize-audio | sox | movixmaker-2 | --- Output from package bug script --- Device was not specified. [Pkg-kde-extras] Bug#691053: [k3b] Please mention that K3b can rip in descriptions
Package: k3b Version: 2.0.2-6 Severity: wishlist The extended description reads: K3b provides a comfortable user interface to perform most CD/DVD burning tasks. While the experienced user can take influence in all steps of the burning process the beginner may find comfort in the automatic settings and the reasonable k3b defaults which allow a quick start. It would be helpful to mention that K3b can rip. According to About K3b: K3b is a full-featured CD/DVD/Blu-ray burning and ripping application. It supports a variety of project types as well as copying of optical media, burning of different types of images, and ripping Audio CDs, Video CDs, and Video DVDs. Its convenient user interface is targeted at all audiences, trying to be as simple as possible for novice users while also providing all features an advanced user might need. Note that a comma would be good in the second sentence, after "burning process". ___ pkg-kde-extras mailing list pkg-kde-extras@lists.alioth.debian.org http://lists.alioth.debian.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/pkg-kde-extras

[Pkg-kde-extras] Bug#692643: [kaffeine] does not support Phonon backends
Package: kaffeine Version: 1.2.2-2 Severity: normal According to the extended description: Kaffeine is a media player for KDE. While it supports multiple Phonon backends, its default backend is Xine, giving Kaffeine a wide variety of supported media types and letting Kaffeine access CDs, DVDs, and network streams easily. Kaffeine used to support multiple backends, but Debian has only supported xine for many years. Then Kaffeine moved to Phonon for version 1, but the switch was reversed before Kaffeine 1 was released, in Kaffeine 1.0-pre3. Our package only offers Xine as backend since that time, but the description was not updated. http://kaffeine.kde.org/?q=node/26 http://anonscm.debian.org/gitweb/?p=pkg-kde/kde-extras/kaffeine.git;a=commitdiff;h=064ff1c9b18f55d93c2c4838d228c956ba1a9dc8 By the way, I'm not sure that "for KDE" respects KDE's new terminology. ___ pkg-kde-extras mailing list pkg-kde-extras@lists.alioth.debian.org http://lists.alioth.debian.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/pkg-kde-extras

[Pkg-kde-extras] Bug#728070: [skanlite] Please do not [always] save as PNG by default
Package: skanlite Version: 1.0-2 Severity: wishlist Tags: upstream Forwarded: http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=323440 I reported the following issue upstream, where it was marked as resolved. Since it persists, this shall track it locally. I just scanned a simple monochrome text document on a letter-sized sheet of paper. Skanlite saved this to a 9 MB file by default. Disk space surely got cheap, but I was expecting more like a 100 kB file. OK, that's harder to achieve for a color 38 MP scan. By default, Skanlite saves scans as PNG-s (at least here). I tried saving as JPEG instead, and instead got a 1.6 MB file, which is at least several times better. Sure, JPEG is lossy but if I compare the 2 files, the JPEG actually looks better. They both have great quality of course, but if I focus on a certain letter and compare, JPEG is the smoothest. (Gwenview bug?) This can be permanently worked around by selecting JPEG in the preferences dialog. My gut feeling says lossless compression must not be very efficient for scanning. I suggest to make JPEG the default. If defaulting to PNG was intended, maybe the format selection could be improved? Could the content determine which of PNG or JPEG should be choosed? Like Skanlite compares the PNG size to the JPEG size and goes with JPEG unless PNG would be smaller for the content in question? -- Filipus Klutiero http://www.philippecloutier.com ___ pkg-kde-extras mailing list pkg-kde-extras@lists.alioth.debian.org http://lists.alioth.debian.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/pkg-kde-extras

This could be particularly problematic for amzdownloader, as it also doesn't support the --help option. -- Filipus Klutiero http://www.philippecloutier.com ___ pkg-kde-extras mailing list pkg-kde-extras@lists.alioth.debian.org http://lists.alioth.debian.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/pkg-kde-extras
[Pkg-kde-extras] Bug#585456: [digikam] please don't depend on marble-data
Hi Mark, On 2013-11-08 18:36, Mark Purcell wrote: tags 585456 wontfix affects 585456 marble-data quit On Thu, 10 Jun 2010 12:55:41 Filipus Klutiero wrote: digikam depends on marble-data through a Depends on libmarblewidget. marble is used for geolocation, which is not used by most people Filipus, I view geolocation to be a core function for digikam, so wont disable this capability. I don't consider geolocation a *core* function, but geolocation certainly has great potential. I'm sorry for the brief report, I didn't mean this as a request to disable geolocation at all. I should say I do not own a camera. Once every year or 2, I'll install Digikam to import photos from a relative's device. Digikam has never been lightweight, but with recent versions, it's gotten fatter. On my not-so-bare KDE install, installing Digikam (without disabling recommends) caused a 71 MB download and required 231 MB more of storage. I'm sure people who love photography find Digikam's development great, but there may be a fair share of small users who would prefer that new features don't *necessarily* increase storage requirements much. I would love to see kde-standard bring digikam, but that's hard to imagine with the current dependencies set. Perhaps there is a way for marble-data to be reduced in size? Mark marble-data is now a 13 MB download which takes 23 MB uncompressed. I am neither knowledgeable on Digikam or on Marble, but I took a quick look. marble-data contains more stuff than I imagined. Maps, icons, sounds, and map data. If I understand correctly, marble-data is mostly used for the Marble Virtual Globe's "Atlas map" type. From what I saw, it looks like Digikam doesn't need marble/data/maps/. That directory is 7 MB though, not a huge gain. On the other hand, the Atlas map is very minimal. I'm not seeing a city of 10 000, and that doesn't look at all like an exception. Therefore, the sizeable marble-data seems to only provide a map of minimal quality. Even locating a picture in the right city would seem difficult with the Atlas map. Digikam offers 2 "backends" - Google Maps and Marble Virtual Globe. Marble Virtual Globe has 2 "types", Atlas map and OpenStreetMap. I imagine that the Google Maps backend requires connectivity, and Marble Virtual Globe's OpenStreetMap visibly does too. By default, Digikam uses the Atlas map. I wonder how hard it would be to have Digikam keep offering Geolocation unconditionally, but only offer the Atlas map when marble-data is installed. -- Filipus Klutiero http://www.philippecloutier.com ___ pkg-kde-extras mailing list pkg-kde-extras@lists.alioth.debian.org http://lists.alioth.debian.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/pkg-kde-extras
