[Pkg-kde-extras] Bug#554626: Dolphin doesn't have full integration with kdesvn

2009-11-05 Thread Filipus Klutiero
Package: kdesvn
Version: 1.4.1-1
Severity: normal

kdesvn doesn't add context menu item or the Subversion (kdesvn) group to
Dolphin as it does in konqueror. In any folder, konqueror will have a "Checkout
from a repository" menu item (as well as Export from a subversion repository),
but Dolphin doesn't have it. Dolphin however has the expected actions when
you're inside a checkout.
I see no documentation on kdesvn's Dolphin integration, but I guess this is a
bug.

This is probably an upstream bug. Related bug:
http://kdesvn.alwins-world.de/ticket/583
At the beginning I was under the impression kdesvn had no kdesvn integration,
so I thought that ticket was about my problem. Maybe the reporter also didn't
realize the integration partially existed.

digikam depends on marble-data through a Depends on libmarblewidget.
marble is used for geolocation, which is not used by most people:

[Pkg-kde-extras] Bug#586632: [digikam] error trying to access kipi-plugins manuals (galleryexport) documentation

2010-06-20 Thread Filipus Klutiero

Package: digikam
Version: 2:1.2.0-5
Severity: important

From help:/digikam/menu-descriptions.html#export-menu
trying to access a kipi-plugins manual, such as galleryexport, results
in a fatal error:

The file or folder help:/kipi-plugins/galleryexport.html does not exist.

And indeed, that file is not in Debian.

This may be considered a digikam-doc bug.

In the case of Gallery Export, this seems to make the plugin unusable to me.

Via qt4 it can access PostgreSQL and MySQL directly.

"Qt" is a proper noun and should be capitalized. Note that Qt 4 is the
current version, so the version number is probably redundant. While
we're at it, it's nice that Qt allows this, but this is not necessarily
information that's pertinent for the end user. I would just say "It can
access PostgreSQL and MySQL directly."

By the way, upstream uses a capital "O" in "TOra".

In English, when starting Partition Manager, the status bar shows "0

displays "Une opération en attente", which is the translation given for
"One pending operation":

When I came to install libdvdcss2, which is not in Debian, Package
Installer warned:

A newer version is available in a software channel.
It is strongly advised to install from the software channel, since it
usually has more support.

As this obviously wasn't the case, I installed anyway. To test, I re-ran
Package Installer on the same deb, which now warns:

An older version is available in a software channel.
It is strongly advised to install from the software channel, since it
usually has more support.

Of course, libdvdcss2 is no more available via APT after installing it
via Package Installer than it was in the beginning.

[Pkg-kde-extras] Bug#667528: [bluedevil] "listen incoming requests" in extended description

2012-04-04 Thread Filipus Klutiero

Package: bluedevil
Version: 1.2.2-1
Severity: minor

The extended description contains:

  * A daemon to listen incoming requests, for example to receive files
or to introduce a requested PIN.

Something's wrong in "A daemon to listen incoming requests". This could
read "A daemon to listen to incoming requests", or "A daemon listening
to incoming requests" (less "to"-s).

Or, perhaps more simply, "A daemon to receive requests".

By the way, at the end of an enumeration, please use *either* etcetera
or an ellipsis, not both (unless the meaning is that there are "many
many" more items).

[Pkg-kde-extras] Bug#680641: [libstreams0] "for for" in short description

2012-07-07 Thread Filipus Klutiero

Package: libstreams0
Version: 0.7.7-3
Severity: minor

The short description reads:

streams library for for Strigi Desktop Search

"for for" must be replaced by just "for".

By the way, the extended description says:

This package is part of Strigi Desktop Search, it contains a library for
writing clients using libstreams.
This should be reworded avoiding the comma (for example, "This package
is part of Strigi Desktop Search and contains a library forwriting
clients using libstreams.") or be split in 2 sentences.

[Pkg-kde-extras] Bug#691050: [k3b] sometimes complains about missing dependencies (cdrdao, dvd+rw-tools) when launched

2012-10-20 Thread Filipus Klutiero

Package: k3b
Version: 2.0.2-6
Severity: minor

I changed K3b's language from French to English and restarted it. It
then strangely complained about cdrdao missing, even though it didn't do
that in French:

Unable to find cdrdao executable
K3b uses cdrdao to actually write CDs.
Solution: Install the cdrdao package.

It does that every time it's launched in English, and now even in French.

I tested that with another user and had the problem right away, in
French, but with dvd+rw-tools instead. The problem disappeared when I
forced the language to English.

k3b depends on both dvd+rw-tools and cdrdao

Setting severity as minor as I haven't determined that this message is a
symptom of any actual failure of K3b to use its dependencies. In fact,
if I go in the settings, K3b correctly shows cdrdao as installed. Oh
wait, now it doesn't show... very odd behavior. After going in the
configuration a few times, the issue for my main user changed to say
dvd+rw-tools was missing, too. After some 20 test, k3b never complained
about both dvd+rw-tools and cdrdao missing at the same time.

[Pkg-kde-extras] Bug#691053: [k3b] Please mention that K3b can rip in descriptions

2012-10-20 Thread Filipus Klutiero

Package: k3b
Version: 2.0.2-6
Severity: wishlist

The extended description reads:

K3b provides a comfortable user interface to perform most CD/DVD burning
tasks. While the experienced user can take influence in all steps
of the burning process the beginner may find comfort in the automatic
settings

and the reasonable k3b defaults which allow a quick start.

It would be helpful to mention that K3b can rip. According to About K3b:

K3b is a full-featured CD/DVD/Blu-ray burning and ripping application.
It supports a variety of project types as well as copying of optical
media, burning of different types of images, and ripping Audio CDs,
Video CDs, and Video DVDs.
Its convenient user interface is targeted at all audiences, trying to
be as simple as possible for novice users while also providing all
features an advanced user might need.

Note that a comma would be good in the second sentence, after "burning
process".

[Pkg-kde-extras] Bug#691550: [smb4k] smb4k and knetattach icons too similar

Package: smb4k, kde-runtime
Severity: minor

The icons of the menu items of Smb4K and KNetAttach are fine when
considered individually, but are confusing when both are installed at
the same time. The globes are a bit different, but an uninitiated user
wouldn't distinguish them.

[Pkg-kde-extras] Bug#692643: [kaffeine] does not support Phonon backends

2012-11-07 Thread Filipus Klutiero

Package: kaffeine
Version: 1.2.2-2
Severity: normal

According to the extended description:

Kaffeine is a media player for KDE. While it supports multiple Phonon
backends, its default backend is Xine, giving Kaffeine a wide variety of
supported media types and letting Kaffeine access CDs, DVDs, and
network streams easily.

Kaffeine used to support multiple backends, but Debian has only
supported xine for many years. Then Kaffeine moved to Phonon for version
1, but the switch was reversed before Kaffeine 1 was released, in
Kaffeine 1.0-pre3. Our package only offers Xine as backend since that
time, but the description was not updated.

http://kaffeine.kde.org/?q=node/26

By the way, I'm not sure that "for KDE" respects KDE's new terminology.

[Pkg-kde-extras] Bug#696566: [bespin] "StarWars" in extended descriptions

2012-12-22 Thread Filipus Klutiero

Package: bespin
Version: 0.r1552-1
Severity: minor

The extended descriptions of kdm-theme-aperture, kdm-theme-bespin and
kdm-theme-tibanna contain:

Bespin is a window decoration for KDE4, the name is nothing about quantum
mechanics, but just refers to cloud city (StarWars Episode V: The Empire
Strikes Back)

"Star" and "Wars" are two words, there should be a space between them.

Note that a period is missing at the end of the sentence.

A problem with ripping was already reported in
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=507901 however that was
with an unofficial transcode. The report is probaly not valid [anymore].

I also can't rip DVDs but the failure is different. transcode's output
clearly shows something going wrong. I reported my issue against

[Pkg-kde-extras] Bug#468659: "Player gstreamer Not Running" when trying to play with gstreamer

2008-02-29 Thread Filipus Klutiero
Package: kmplayer
Version: 1:0.10.0c-1
Severity: normal

I was unable to use kmplayer with the GStreamer engine with 2 machines on 2
tested.
The video area stays black, no sound is heard, and the message "Player
gstreamer Not Running" shows in the status bar.
I tried playing an Ogg file and a MP3. I don't have much GStreamer packages
installed, but couldn't figure what I would need more.

2009-02-21 Thread Filipus Klutiero
Package: touchfreeze
Version: 0.2.3-1
Severity: important

TouchFreeze does not disable the touchpad unless the X SHMConfig option is
enabled. Since that option is not enabled by default, TouchFreeze "doesn't
work" by default. This is well documented in README.Debian, the actual
problem is that the interface (which is launched from the utilities menu)
does not give any clue about this. When started in console, it whines:

$ touchfreeze

[Pkg-kde-extras] Bug#725895: Upstream, fixed

2013-10-09 Thread Filipus Klutiero

tags 725895 + upstream fixed-upstream
thanks

Amarok's Mate(j Laitl <mailto:ma...@laitl.cz> confirmed this is an Amarok bug,
which had in fact already been reported upstream, just... already closed too :-)
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=323614

This will be fixed in the next version of Amarok.

[Pkg-kde-extras] Bug#728037: [amarok-utils] amzdownloader shipped but not mentioned in description

2013-10-27 Thread Filipus Klutiero

Package: amarok-utils
Version: 2.8.0-1
Severity: minor

In version 2.8, /usr/bin/amzdownloader ("AMZ Downloader") was moved from amarok
to amarok-utils. This should be reflected in the extended description, which currently
reads:

This package contains command line utilities that are typically used by Amarok
media player but might also be useful on systems without Amarok installed.
They are designed to be lightweight as they do not depend on KDE libraries.

Currently the package contains the following utilities:
  - amarokcollectionscanner - scans audio files, collects information from
file tags and prints it in the structured XML format.
  - amarok_afttagger - a helper program which writes/removes custom tags
to/from media files required for embedded "Amarok File Tracking".

[Pkg-kde-extras] Bug#728070: [skanlite] Please do not [always] save as PNG by default

2013-10-27 Thread Filipus Klutiero

Package: skanlite
Version: 1.0-2
Severity: wishlist
Tags: upstream
Forwarded: http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=323440

I reported the following issue upstream, where it was marked as resolved. Since
it persists, this shall track it locally.

I just scanned a simple monochrome text document on a letter-sized sheet of
paper. Skanlite saved this to a 9 MB file by default. Disk space surely got
cheap, but I was expecting more like a 100 kB file. OK, that's harder to
achieve for a color 38 MP scan. By default, Skanlite saves scans as PNG-s (at
least here). I tried saving as JPEG instead, and instead got a 1.6 MB file,
which is at least several times better. Sure, JPEG is lossy but if I compare
the 2 files, the JPEG actually looks better. They both have great quality of
course, but if I focus on a certain letter and compare, JPEG is the smoothest.
(Gwenview bug?)

This can be permanently worked around by selecting JPEG in the preferences
dialog.

My gut feeling says lossless compression must not be very efficient for
scanning. I suggest to make JPEG the default. If defaulting to PNG was
intended, maybe the format selection could be improved? Could the content
determine which of PNG or JPEG should be choosed? Like Skanlite compares the
PNG size to the JPEG size and goes with JPEG unless PNG would be smaller for
the content in question?

[Pkg-kde-extras] Bug#728941: [amarok-utils] No manual pages for amzdownloader, amarok_afttagger

2013-11-06 Thread Filipus Klutiero

Package: amarok-utils
Version: 2.8.0-2
Severity: normal

amarok-utils ships /usr/bin/amzdownloader and /usr/bin/amarok_afttagger, for
which no manual pages are provided. Policy 12.1 says every program should
provide a manual page.

This could be particularly problematic for amzdownloader, as it also doesn't
support the --help option.

[Pkg-kde-extras] Bug#585456: [digikam] please don't depend on marble-data

Filipus,

I view geolocation to be a core function for digikam, so wont disable this
capability.

I don't consider geolocation a *core* function, but geolocation certainly has
great potential. I'm sorry for the brief report, I didn't mean this as a
request to disable geolocation at all.

I should say I do not own a camera. Once every year or 2, I'll install Digikam
to import photos from a relative's device. Digikam has never been lightweight,
but with recent versions, it's gotten fatter. On my not-so-bare KDE install,
installing Digikam (without disabling recommends) caused a 71 MB download and
required 231 MB more of storage.

I'm sure people who love photography find Digikam's development great, but
there may be a fair share of small users who would prefer that new features
don't *necessarily* increase storage requirements much. I would love to see
kde-standard bring digikam, but that's hard to imagine with the current
dependencies set.

Perhaps there is a way for marble-data to be reduced in size?

Mark

marble-data is now a 13 MB download which takes 23 MB uncompressed. I am neither
knowledgeable on Digikam or on Marble, but I took a quick look. marble-data contains more
stuff than I imagined. Maps, icons, sounds, and map data. If I understand correctly,
marble-data is mostly used for the Marble Virtual Globe's "Atlas map" type.
From what I saw, it looks like Digikam doesn't need marble/data/maps/. That directory is
7 MB though, not a huge gain. On the other hand, the Atlas map is very minimal. I'm not
seeing a city of 10 000, and that doesn't look at all like an exception. Therefore, the
sizeable marble-data seems to only provide a map of minimal quality. Even locating a
picture in the right city would seem difficult with the Atlas map.

Digikam offers 2 "backends" - Google Maps and Marble Virtual Globe. Marble Virtual Globe
has 2 "types", Atlas map and OpenStreetMap. I imagine that the Google Maps backend
requires connectivity, and Marble Virtual Globe's OpenStreetMap visibly does too. By default,
Digikam uses the Atlas map. I wonder how hard it would be to have Digikam keep offering Geolocation
unconditionally, but only offer the Atlas map when marble-data is installed.

[Pkg-kde-extras] Bug#749684: [digikam] error trying to access kipi-plugins manuals (galleryexport) documentation

2014-05-28 Thread Filipus Klutiero

Package: digikam
Version: 4:4.0.0-1+b1
Severity: important

From help:/digikam/menu-descriptions.html#export-menu
trying to access some kipi-plugins manuals, such as galleryexport, results
in a fatal error, for example:
The file or folder help:/kipi-plugins/galleryexport.html does not exist.

And indeed, that file is not in Debian.

This may be considered a digikam-doc bug.

This was previously reported in #586632.

Of course, Back is not even available.

I'm not sure why reporting was disabled, but upstream seems quite inactive. I
don't see any tracker outside KDE's Bugzilla. It looks like upstream currently
