Package: wnpp Severity: normal I request an adopter for the classic-theme-restorer package. This is a team-maintained package, so it would be best if the adoptor replaced me in Uploaders:, but they could also take the package out of the team's hands. [Pkg-mozext-maintainers] Firefox 57: WebExtensions only
Hello team, Paul Wise posted this link in #debian-mozext: [1]. The most significant thing for us is that from Firefox 57, expected late 2017, non-WebExtension addons will not be loaded. There are a couple of things we have to determine: 1. Will firefox-esr be updated to version 57 or later during stretch's lifetime? Looking at the timeline,[2] we can expect an ESR release with version number at least 57 in March 2018. So I think the answer is yes. We should probably come up with a strategy for xul-ext-* packages in stretch before that date. Is it likely the stable release team will accept new versions of addons that convert them to webextensions? Or will we just have to ask them to remove all xul-ext-* packages from stretch as soon as firefox-esr >=57 is uploaded to stable? 2. Is the structure of webextensions addons the same as the structure of the old addons? I.e. do we have to update mozilla-devscripts in order to package them? Maybe someone on this list already knows the answer to this question. Debian packages cannot include copies of files that are installed by other Debian packages; in this case, by the fonts-font-awesome package. There are several reasons for this. An important one is that it is harder to keep the font up-to-date. We don't want more than one version of the font to be installed on any Debian system. See Debian Policy section 4.13 (that discusses "code", but the policy extends to fonts). -- Sean Whitton signature.asc Description: PGP signature ___ Pkg-mozext-maintainers mailing list Pkg-mozext-maintainers@lists.alioth.debian.org http://lists.alioth.debian.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/pkg-mozext-maintainers

Package: release.debian.org Severity: normal Tags: jessie User: release.debian@packages.debian.org Usertags: pu Dear stable release team, The dh_xul-ext debhelper script from the mozilla-devscripts package generates Depends:, Recommends:, Provides:, Enhances: and Breaks: entries for addons and extensions to Mozilla software such as Firefox and Thunderbird. An example of such a package using dh_xul-ext is xul-ext-y-u-no-validate. The version of mozilla-devscripts currently in Jessie generates references to the iceweasel and icedove packages. But iceweasel is to be replaced with firefox-esr, and icedove is probably going to be replaced with thunderbird. The attached patch updates dh_xul-ext such that when xul-ext-* packages in stable are rebuilt, they will have dependencies/recommends/etc. on `firefox-esr | iceweasel` and `thunderbird | icedove` rather than on iceweasel and icedove alone. -- System Information: Debian Release: stretch/sid APT prefers testing APT policy: (900, 'testing') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 4.3.0-1-686-pae (SMP w/2 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_GB.utf8, LC_CTYPE=en_GB.utf8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Init: systemd (via /run/systemd/system) -- Sean Whitton diff -Nru mozilla-devscripts-0.39/data/xul-app-data.csv.Debian mozilla-devscripts-0.39+deb8u1/data/xul-app-data.csv.Debian --- mozilla-devscripts-0.39/data/xul-app-data.csv.Debian 2013-04-15 10:48:05.0 + +++ mozilla-devscripts-0.39+deb8u1/data/xul-app-data.csv.Debian 2016-03-23 03:16:36.0 + @@ -1,5 +1,7 @@ id,package, sol, eol {ec8030f7-c20a-464f-9b0e-13a3a9e97384},iceweasel,2.0,* +{ec8030f7-c20a-464f-9b0e-13a3a9e97384},firefox-esr,2.0,* +{3550f703-e582-4d05-9a08-453d09bdfdc6},thunderbird,1.5.0.7,* {3550f703-e582-4d05-9a08-453d09bdfdc6},icedove,1.5.0.7,* {92650c4d-4b8e-4d2a-b7eb-24ecf4f6b63a},iceape,1.0.6,* {a79fe89b-6662-4ff4-8e88-09950ad4dfde},conkeror,0.9,* diff -Nru mozilla-devscripts-0.39/debian/changelog mozilla-devscripts-0.39+deb8u1/debian/changelog --- mozilla-devscripts-0.39/debian/changelog 2014-05-17 17:30:03.0 + +++ mozilla-devscripts-0.39+deb8u1/debian/changelog 2016-03-23 03:31:23.0 + @@ -1,3 +1,12 @@ +mozilla-devscripts (0.39+deb8u1) stable; urgency=medium + + * Update dh_xul-ext's substvar generation for the upcoming transitions +in stable from iceweasel to firefox-esr, and from icedove to +thunderbird. + * Update test suite expected values accordingly. + + -- Sean Whitton <spwhit...@spwhitton.name> Tue, 22 Mar 2016 20:30:30 -0700 + mozilla-devscripts (0.39) unstable; urgency=medium [ Ximin Luo ] diff -Nru mozilla-devscripts-0.39/debian/control mozilla-devscripts-0.39+deb8u1/debian/control --- mozilla-devscripts-0.39/debian/control 2013-12-21 22:26:07.0 + +++ mozilla-devscripts-0.39+deb8u1/debian/control 2016-03-23 03:12:57.0 + @@ -2,7 +2,7 @@ Section: devel Priority: optional Maintainer: Debian Mozilla Extension Maintainers <pkg-mozext-maintainers@lists.alioth.debian.org> -Uploaders: Benjamin Drung <bdr...@debian.org>, Andrea Veri <a...@debian.org> +Uploaders: Benjamin Drung <bdr...@debian.org>, Andrea Veri <a...@debian.org>, Sean Whitton <spwhit...@spwhitton.name> Build-Depends: debhelper (>= 9), python-all (>= 2.6.6-3~), python-librdf Standards-Version: 3.9.5 X-Python-Version: >= 2.6 @@ -19,7 +19,7 @@ ${python:Depends} Description: Development scripts used by Mozilla's addons packages This package contains mozilla-devscripts, a collection of scripts - based on Makefile inheritance meant for packaging Iceweasel's and - Icedove's extensions. I'm not familiar with this use case: could you explain why someone might want to do that, please? Does Debian usually try to support partial upgrades between stable versions? My understanding was that we expected users to upgrade all-at-once from one stable version to the next. Further, firefox-esr will replace iceweasel in Jessie when the next ESR release is made by Mozilla. Such elements were removed in the Australis redesign of Iceweasel. This ITP fulfills an RFP (#753466). * Package name: classic-theme-restorer Version : 1.4.6.1-1 Upstream Author : Aris <aris-add...@gmx.net> * URL : https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/classicthemerestorer/ * License : MPL-2.0 Section : web Download with dget: dget -x http://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/main/c/classic-theme-restorer/classic-theme-restorer_1.4.6.1-1.dsc Or build it with gbp: git clone https://anonscm.debian.org/git/pkg-mozext/classic-theme-restorer git checkout debian/1.4.6.1-1 git verify-tag debian/1.4.6.1-1 # if you have my key gbp buildpackage Thanks. -- Sean Whitton signature.asc Description: PGP signature ___ Pkg-mozext-maintainers mailing list Pkg-mozext-maintainers@lists.alioth.debian.org http://lists.alioth.debian.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/pkg-mozext-maintainers

[Pkg-mozext-maintainers] Bug#811332: dh_xul-ext: drop support for Iceape
Package: mozilla-devscripts Version: 0.43 Severity: normal Tags: patch Hello, dh_xul-ext still adds Iceape to ${xpi:Depends}. Iceape is no longer available in Debian, so this generates debcheck errors. I've made an attempt to remove it in the branch drop-iceape of the mozilla-devscripts repository on alioth [1]. Please consider merging this. Thanks.
